5 BOOKS FOR #GIRLBOSSES
The B.LOVED team is well-known for being all about the pretty, and we make no apologies for that! Beautiful details, gorgeous flowers, stunning dresses make our hearts sing and they may be the things that brought us all together but just beneath the surface is a common thread that’s so much stronger; we’re all fighters. We’ve been unlucky in love, life and our careers, we’ve made difficult decisions and had to change our plans numerous times, but it’s this tenacity, strength, fearlessness and resolve that makes the B.LOVED team so bloody awesome. We’re businesswomen, mothers, solopreneurs, wives, makers, bread-winners, fashionistas and home makers. Hell we’re #girlbosses!!
So while we blog about the pretty most days, we’d like to show you that there’s more to us than meets the eye. There’s going to be a bit more heart and soul around these parts, and we hope you’ll join us! We kick started things earlier this month with our #herBLOVEDlife series, and we’ll be sharing more inspirational, go-getting, fire starting posts right here from now on.
I couldn’t think of a better way to fire us all up, than by sharing some of the reads I’ve found most useful and inspiring on my business journey so far, so here are my 5 top books for #girlbosses.
by Tara Mohr
Another one from my Christmas list I’m part-way through this book, and it’s too good to miss! Tara knows as women, we’re all too quick to put ourselves down. She believes we see the talent and potential in others, but not in ourselves. She knows we say sorry when we should be explaining a situation. She not only helps us realise what is holding us back, but passes on useful advice and techniques for pushing forward and determining our own vision. BUY
by Danielle LaPorte
This was top of my Christmas list last year, and I’m still working my way through it! I love the mix of passion and inspirational words from Danielle alongside practical tips and exercises to apply to your own business. However impossible your dream may seem, her encouragement will see you smash it! BUY.
by Lara Casey
The hugely successful Lara is the brains behind Southern Weddings Magazine, one of the most popular US bridal titles, as well as the Making It Happen movement. Her book is an inspiring read for any creative entrepreneur but especially those in the wedding or creative industries. In her shop, you can also get your hands on her Powersheets (love these) for in-depth business planning goals as well as heaps of inspirational stuff! BUY
by Sheryl Sandberg
This was one of the very first ‘business’ books I read. It’s one I’d definitely recommend for women in the workplace and especially those who have, or are planning to have kids. As COO of Facebook, she implemented practical solutions to help female employees, which she passes on as anecdotes from her own experiences. BUY
by Sophia Amoruso
You didn’t think I could write this post with out mentioning Sophia Amoruso’s modern classic did you? I first read this book a couple of years ago on a longhaul flight – cover to cover in under 8 hours. Following Sophia’s journey from dumpster diving to multi-millionaire. This girl is cool not because she created the life of her dreams, but because she did it on her own terms. No BS, just straight-talk, ambition and hard work. BUY
