COSY CHRISTMAS ENTERTAINING

Today we’re delighted to share this fabulously festive setting, created by event designers Pocketful of Dreams and their tips for cosy and artful Christmas entertaining.  There is something so magical about this time of year with the twinkly lights and that feeling of festivity. When it comes to creating celebrations and events the POD Team are drawn to those comforting and cosseting scenes that celebrate the season in style.

When planning any party we personally love thoughtful touches and inspired details, we think about the type of experience we want to create and how our guests will feel from the moment they walk through the door right through to when they leave. We let our minds wander and dream to really get in the zone as we begin to imagine all the detail.

For this setting we wanted to create something really cosy, drawing inspiration from the crisp Wintery time of year. We imagined a wooden cabin hidden deep in the snowy forest, sheepskin fur throws and roaring log fires offering tactile and warming comfort with the scent of fresh pine sprigs filling the air. We chose a pared-back colour palette, drawing upon natural elements to bring in soft taupes, fawn, fallow and snowy white and pairing them with flashes of warm copper, bronze and gold.

A table was created from abandoned wooden scaffolding boards, with a copper pipe canopy cleverly integrated into the table, perfect for hanging fir sprigs as well as cute and quirky festive decorations. To set the table we used ornate baroque-inspired plates with matching opaque glassware, copper flatware and raw linen napkins held together with lasercut copper paper napkin rings, created for us by Things by Laura. For finishing touches Laura also created lasercut name-cards and whimsical word confetti to scatter across the table, snowflake cookie favours by Nila Holden were added to each place setting, whilst gold-dipped taper candles in copper holders from Object Style were dotted along the table. The wonderful David and his team at Frog Flowers  created forest-inspired floral displays, presented in geo copper and pleated white ceramic vases offering further tactile beauty to the scene.

For a truly cosy and festive feel a wild and lush handmade garland framed the chill-out seating area, with spruce firs mixed in with gently glittering asparagus ferns, winter cotton and snow-coated sprigs, topped off with a carnival style star light from POD Prop Shop. Side tables made from foraged wooden slabs enhanced the forest feel whilst sequinned rose-gold cushions added a luxe element to the winter white seating.

Laura brought more crafting magic to the setting with a unique advent calendar of triangular paper boxes filled with surprising treats, presented on a stylish brass ladder; as well as handmade paper flower and pinwheel decorations, perfect for dotting about the space to add a little whimsy. Winter-inspired artwork of forest animals adorned the wooden plank-lined walls, presented in warming rustic-wood frames, with further festive quotes like “Deck the Halls” and “Merry & Bright”, helping to really set the scene.

Upon arrival guests were invited to add a Christmas bauble to the tree from a selection of handcrafted artisan pieces, these included ceramic copper & white stars & wooden or brass geo block shapes from Object Style alongside further paper creations from Things by Laura.  The tree itself was another eco-inspired salvaged piece: last year’s Christmas tree trimmed back and saved to shine for another day. The tree was adorned with festoon-lighting strings and guests chosen baubles. Whilst a wooden copper reindeer head kept a careful watch over the brown-paper packages tied up with string and hand-dyed silk ribbons by Pom Pom Blossom.
