REVIEW: GOODWOOD HOUSE

We all love to travel, but sometimes nothing beats a luxury weekend away right here in the UK.  There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of hidden gems to choose from and we’ve shared some gorgeous ones here on BLOVED Travel… from charming rural retreats to splendid seaside boltholes.  This week we’re going super-luxe with a peek inside the glamorous Goodwood House.  Home to the famous Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival, this country mansion is just what the doctor ordered for a weekend off.  London photographer Kate Nielen ventured off to the West Sussex countryside with her family and shares her experiences (and beautiful images) with us…

Destination: Goodwood House

How long does it take to get there? About 2 hours by car from London

Tell us about Goodwood House Set on the Goodwood Estate in an 18th-century stone building, this boutique hotel is 0.8 miles from Goodwood House with its fine art collection, and 2.1 miles from Goodwood Racecourse. The chic rooms and suites are decorated with both antique and contemporary furnishings, with ensuite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some rooms feature private terraces.

There’s complimentary full English breakfast, and dining options include a modern bar/grill and
a gastropub offering upscale dishes made with home-grown ingredients. Other amenities include
a fitness centre, an indoor pool, spa treatments, and 2 golf courses

I was staying with my husband and two young children – we stayed in a fabulous suite with
an interconnected additional bedroom. Amazing for a family weekend away.

What to do? There is plenty to do. The activities change from season to season. A visit to the House is a must when it is open to the public. There is also swimming, golf, walks and even car racing (in season) not to mention a planetarium a short drive away. Both adults and children loved it

Tell us about the food… The food is amazing. we had a fantastic dinner in the hotel restaurant The Richmond Arms. I would highly recommend the estate reared beef. There is also a gourmet restaurant The Kennels if you are planning a romantic weekend away. This is normally a members only clubhouse but as an overnight hotel guest you will be eligible to dine there.

What to pack? Depending on the activities. Anything fro a swimsuit to an elegant evening dress.

Would you visit again? Absolutely!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
