A LUXE + LOVELY PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WEDDING WISHING WELL FOUNDATION
A few months ago I received an email out of the blue from The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation asking me if I could help raise awareness of this incredible charity who support brides plan their wedding when facing terminal illnesses. At the time, I was working on the initial stages of the new B.LOVED and thinking a lot about our luxe + lovely ethos. I found myself wondering how I could do more than just write a post that you might all read once before it disappears into the archives, an important message lost among the pretty. So this morning I’m going to tell you the inspirational story of founder Naomi, before sharing the ways we’re going to work with The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation long after this post vanishes from the front page.
In 2009, wedding planner Naomi Thomas was engaged and desperate to marry her fiancé of 3 years, Graham, until doctors delivered the devastating news she had Breast Cancer. With her treatment severely limiting their finances, a wedding seemed out of the question until a local wedding planner offered to help Naomi organise her big day and find suppliers willing to donate their products and services. On 6th June 2012 Naomi and Graham tied the knot, and after the seeing the kindness and success of her wedding day she became determined to turn her experience into something positive and set up The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation to help others in a similar position. Over the past two years, the charity has helped numerous couples celebrate their marriage in difficult circumstances, due to the generosity of the wedding industry, fundraising from family and friends and donations from past brides.
Please take a few minutes to watch Naomi tell her story. It’s utterly heartbreaking, inspiring and uplifting all at the same time.
At B.LOVED we’re partnering with members our Contributors Network and the B.LOVED Edit (launching December 2014) to help couples planning their wedding in difficult circumstances celebrate without sacrificing on style. The wedding industry is a friendly, supportive and generous place and I know that many of our wedding industry friends will support us by donating their services and expertise in any way they can. If you’d like to get involved please email [email protected] for more information.
There’s also a number of ways our readers can support the Foundation work, from sharing their wedding day selfies with the #WedWishSelfie campaign or donating your wedding dress, to purchasing Naomi’s book ‘No Ordinary Wedding Planner‘.
I know so many of you will join me in supporting this incredible charity, and I know Naomi, her team and I thank you so very much.
