WEDDINGS

BEAUTIFUL BACKS!

Making a statement with the back of your wedding dress is a trend that has been present throughout 2015 and it looks like it’s here to stay!  Whether you decide to choose a dress with lots of detailing on the back or simply dare to bare all, the back of your dress has never been so important as it is right now!

Our favourite Israeli designers are boosting the trend for completely backless wedding dresses, while other designers are opting for more subtle low-backed designs. The peep hole back is still also very popular and designers are seeking more and more interesting ways to add drama to the back of their gowns. Some might say that the back of your dress is more important than the front of your dress because it is the part of the dress that everyone will be staring at as you make your vows!

It’s important if you do go down this route of choosing a dress with an amazing back, that you also carefully consider your hair style and choice of veil, if you decide to wear one…

If you are the type of girl that always wears their hair down, then a low-backed dress may be more suitable than one with lots of detailing. However, if are happy to wear your hair up, you could consider either a low backed design or one with lots of stunning details!  Your choice of veil will also be really important, and we recommend wearing a simple, single tier, long veil. Details on the veil will detract from the design of the back of your dress and may look too busy. A short style veil will also detract from the sleek silhouette of the back of the dress, creating an unnecessary line at the point where the veil ends.

If you’re concerned about baring all in church or at the ceremony then you could always consider wearing a sheer wrap that will still allow the dress details to show through, but will create a more modest look. The veil will also help with this too. If you do decide to go backless it may also be worth considering some sort of cover-up just to wear on the way to the ceremony and to pop on in the evening, if it gets too chilly.

There are lots of great options available to help you out – ranging from nipple covers, to stick on bras and bras with very low backs. Most of these options will work with the average size bust but you may want to try a couple of options out first if you have a larger bust. Another option is to have bra cups built into the style of your dress – and lots of our designers already offer this as an option.

Another thing to consider is to start using a skin routine well in advance. It might be a good idea to get some specialist skin products to ensure that your back is in tip top condition by the time of your wedding. If you are going to be going on a hen party that is somewhere hot, then you also need to be careful that you don’t get any tan lines in the wrong places!  And remember you could always opt for a fake tan if you are worried about burning or drying out your skin.

I was inspired to open Luella's Boudoir following my own wedding in 2005. With a busy career, very little time to visit lots of wedding shops and seven bridesmaids to dress, I longed for a place where I could view everything we needed at the same time. Today Luella's strives to offer brides an incredible, assortment of truly individual items and we continue to ensure that we are offering an exclusive selection of beautiful wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses and accessories that have been meticulously sourced from all over the world.
