CLASSIC BRIDE’S DIARY: THE CAKE
With less than 2 weeks to go until I’m back in the UK for a month-long visit, I’ve been busy booking in lots of wedding planning activities for whilst I’m back, which I’m getting really excited about now!
As well as lots of catch ups with friends and family, my diary is quickly filling up with dress fittings, meetings with the florist, menu tastings at our venue, bridesmaid shoe shopping, hat shopping with my mum, as well as ordering the invitations and getting other little jobs done! So hopefully there won’t be too much left to do in September when I arrive in the UK a few weeks before the wedding – eek!!
One of the activities I’m most looking forward to doing whilst I’m back is the cake tasting! Our wedding cake will be from Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium who is another of the fabulous suppliers included in the competition that I won. Elizabeth creates beautifully handcrafted cakes, decorated with the most realistic edible jewellery, sugar flowers, lace, pearls and gems.
Her cakes range from classic-looking, traditional wedding cakes to much more elaborate creations, as well as gorgeous cupcakes – and as these photos of just a few examples show, Elizabeth Solaru is an incredibly talented lady:
Not only do the cakes look amazing, with flavours such as ‘Pink Champagne and Strawberries’, ‘Chocolate Baileys’, ‘Luscious Lemon’, ‘Vanilla Ripple’, ‘The Ultimate Carrot Cake’ and ‘Elizabeth’s Secret Recipe Fruit Cake’ (to name but a few!) it’s proving tricky to decide which ones to sample! We plan on having a 3 tiered wedding cake, with each tier being a different flavour, and with a party planner to The Queen(!) stating “They were the best cakes I’ve ever tasted!” I’m sure whichever we choose will be delicious!
