DIY POM POM PARTY BACKDROP

It’s no secret that DIY details are a big trend in the world of weddings and parties. Not only does the do-it-yourself approach save your spend, it also helps to add a big stamp of personality across your big day. When I’m not busy running my wedding stationery business, I love nothing more than getting my craft on! Today I’m excited to share with you this mini pom-pom backdrop; a fun project which is easy, cost-effective and packs a punch visually… You can adapt this DIY to suit your celebration by using your own colours – we’ve gone for a pretty pastel theme, but bright tones work equally well.

You can use this idea to create a beautiful backdrop for your cake, your photo booth or even your ceremony – the possibilities are endless.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Tissue paper in assorted colours of your choice
  • Ribbon
  • Stapler and staples
  • A large circular punch (we used one with scalloped edging). These are available in most good craft stores and online.

METHOD:

If you will be transferring your backdrop to the wedding or party venue, it may be easiest to wait and do this on installation.

You may find it easiest to do this from a pole, or you could get creative with a large frame – this will partly depend on the setting. Keep in mind that this backdrop only looks nice from the front, so it’s best placed against a wall or similar.

If you try this, we’d love to see how you get on – Why not keep us posted via the BLOVED facebook page..? Happy crafting!
