For me, your wedding photography is one of the most important parts of your big day. Your wedding day is all about celebrating love, making a commitment and creating memories. A great photographer captures all of that, stealthily. Cementing moments that seem to pass so fleetingly on the day.
And where to these wonderful beings learn such a clever skill? Well from a variety of places really, and lots of practice. But kind folk Susanna Nordvall, Maria Hedengren and Hey Look were willing to share their skills with fellow photographers in a creative wedding workshop in Espoo, Finland.
Susanna said: “We had a super fun day shooting a gorgeous couple in the beautiful Espoon Kartano and teaching how to best capture the gorgeous details that the couple usually have on their special day.”
Which means that this blog post is a double whammy for you lovely lot – not only is packed full of photography inspiration that will help you hone the type of shots you want, it’s also beautifully styled with beautifully elegant Scandi minimalism.
Here’s the stunning results…and keep reading below to find out more about the styling inspiration from Michaela from Hey Look:
For our workshop inspiration session we wanted to create a classic, contemporary setting with Nordic touches.
In accordance with clean Nordic styles and tastes, a slightly more minimalistic take on an elegant wedding in a traditional environment. Our aim was to design a wedding that would fit the budget of couples in Nordic countries – where flowers and decor can cost a small fortune, yet be a truly elegant and lush affair.
At the same time, we wanted to focus on locally sourced ingredients and materials. Our floral designs were set on a bed of foraged greenery from local forests. The catering, Aan Tafel, used wild herbs, moss, flowers and local ingredients for their delicious creations.
The couple, Sassi and Timo, are in fact a real couple as we wanted to capture real love and emotion between the models and teach the photographers how to better catch that emotion to photos.
