FLOURISH & PROSPER: THE WEDDING ACADEMY 2014
A year ago, almost to the day, I met the gorgeous Jessie from Jessie Thomson Weddings for the very first time. Regular B.LOVED readers will know I have a passion for the wedding industry – not just sharing beautiful inspiration, advice and ideas on these pretty pages – but getting to know and support the people behind the industry – a passion Jessie and I both share. The launch of Flourish & Prosper just a couple of months later was one of my defining moments of 2014; together we want to inspire, support, cherish and inspire our wedding industry colleagues, bringing suppliers both new and old together in a friendly, supportive community and encouraging the industry to improve and grow as we do.
On 1st November 2014, we hosted our very first, very beautiful, event F&P: The Wedding Academy 2014 at Icetank, London. The Academy is designed to give wedding businesses the knowledge, tools and motivation to grow their brand when owners need to be everything from accountant, social media & SEO expert, marketing director, editor and PR guru – and that’s before they can even begin to do their ‘real’ job of being an awesome photographer, super star planner, brilliant cake designer, or whatever.
So, 25 wedding industry professionals, from photographers and planners to makers and bakers arrived eager to learn from some of the very best in the industry, including Kat from Rock n Roll Bride, Pocketful of Dreams, Jenny Hyde, Maids to Measure, Ward Williams Creative, Sweetpea PR, Swash & Fold and Marianne Taylor, covering topics from SEO to accounts and PR to blogging!
“I was thrilled when the babes at Flourish and Prosper asked me to be involved IN their workshop, The Wedding Academy. This is the first business workshop specifically aimed at people in the wedding industry, and I couldn’t wait to attend!” – Kat Williams, Rock n’ Roll Bride
Of course, with Jessie and I behind the scenes, the day was as visually inspiring as our speakers were mentally. Embracing our monochrome and pink colour scheme we worked closely with a team of talented Partners and Sponsors to make Icetank look utterly beautiful. With statement florals from Bo Boutique (I mean, just look at that mega arrangement!) and garlands from Friend of Faux softening the slick white interior of the room, furniture from Inspire Hire and black & white striped chair bows from Gilded Linens completing the contemporary look. Sausage & Pear provided the delicious catering throughout the day, with the Banter Boys rounding off the evening with our signature cocktails served in vintage glasses. Plus each attendee took home a stylish swag bag stuffed with goodies from You & Your Wedding, Not on the HIgh Street, Dottie Rocks, Working Clasp & more… The day was beautifully captured by photographers Sarah Hannam and Xander & Thea.
For brides reading this, you might be wondering what relevance this has to you. Well, our ultimate aim with Flourish & Prosper is to create a community of suppliers you can trust, who are dedicated to being the very best, and commited to learning and growing as business owners and professionals. By choosing a supplier who is a member of F&P or attends our events you know that they are professional, reputable and at the top of their game.
Wedding pro’s, you know how much I love you. Flourish & Prosper is an opportunity for me to give something back after the years of wonderful support and friendship you have offered me and B.LOVED. I’d love you to become a part of our community or join one of our events. F&P’s first social, a chance to meet and network with like-minded industry pro’s takes place at Beaufort House, Chelsea on 28th January 2015. You can book your ticket here or become a member for free entry, and many more benefits.
The Styling Workshop at Aynhoe Park on 27th April 2015 is already proving a popular ticket for anyone looking to improve their portfolio and images – not just for planners, stylists and photographers, but anyone who has a product or service to sell – we’ll be joined by the Editor of You & Your Wedding Magazine, online retailer Not on the Highstreet and fine art photographer Taylor Barnes Photography to show you how to create beautiful images. Book your place here.
Of course I think everything F&P does is awesome, but don’t take my word for it! Here’s what one of our F&P The Wedding Academy Attendees had to say:
“I knew it was going to be great due to the caliber of the speakers but it surpassed all of my expectations. The location and environment was ideal, everything looked gorgeous. it was so well organised and executed, and all of the attendees were energetic and inspiring themselves, and all seemed to come with the same attitude and eagerness to learn. A wonderful event!”
