Forest Feast

Well hello Autumn! My favourite season. What better excuse to dig out all of those cosy knits and boots –yes please! This time of year also brings with it a change of colours and soon we are to see a riot of reds, oranges and rusts, intertwined with the sumptuous berry tones. These work so well in early Autumn when mixed with the deep forest greens and it brings about an incredibly luxe and rich feel to the colour palette surrounding us. Heavenly!

With these colours, you can create a divine wedding theme to work around. Think purple and red hues, paired with foliage galore. You can go wild with florals with this theme – I’m sure it’s partly why I love this season so much. Rustic, big and wild blooms work so well, particularly with asparagus fern, which creates a woodland and forest vibe. Add in some natural wood and logs; perhaps use to write your menu on or place a feast of sharing platters of yumminess on.

You could be quite bold with your tableware and linen and inject some colour into these. Luxe metalilcs also work well, particularly a copper or gold. It enhances the elegance and luxurious nature, all whilst in contrast to the more rustic florals and natural wooden elements. You could add in modern touches with wicker or reed balls to decorate the table or furnishings; this creates different textures and dimensions and a touch of fun. Another way to have some fun is with your bridal look –floral crowns are still huge and you could ask your florist to match to your bouquet to have synergy. I have images of long banquet style tables laden and overflowing with food galore, gold candelabras and rich, abundant florals.

Being named after Jane Austen’s Emma, it is serendipitous that I would end up working in weddings. A country girl at heart, I am equally comfortable roaming the farm in my tweed, surrounded by animals or sat in a beautiful Georgian property dining on afternoon tea and sipping champagne. With a strength in organising and a flair for creativity and a passion for everything wedding related I have been lucky enough to work as a Wedding Co-Ordinator for some stunning venues across the South East. I look after the social media and am Co-Planner at Goose & Berry, luxury wedding & event planners & caterers based in London & Buckinghamshire (www.gooseandberry.co.uk) and am on hand to help you plan and design your perfect day.
