inspiration board: #67 black, white & brights

Morning morning! How was your weekend? Lots of things ticked off the wedding to-do list?

Good morning b.lovers,I hope your weekend was filled with lovely wedding-y things?  I am sure that many of you are making the final preparations to tie the knot in the next month or two, and I hope the countdown is full of excitement and fun!  This weekend I spent a thoroughly fascinating day with William Clarke and his team at William Clarke Flowers, learning about how they create fabulous arrangements, displays and bouquets for beautiful weddings, and also having a go myself at making a gorgeous rustic peony and rose bouquet!  More on this to come soon (but if you can’t wait check out my twitter and instagram feeds for updates throughout the day!).  I also got to catch up with blogging friend Gaby of Southbound Bride, who has been in South Africa for the last three months, and managed to rebrand and relaunch her blog, attend no less than 5 fabulous weddings, coordinate a shoot and make some exciting plans for 2012 (brides getting married in SA should really be keeping an eye out for Gaby’s exciting announcements!)

Over the past few weeks my inspiration boards have been very rustic and pastel-coloured, so today I wanted to create something a little brighter and bolder, yet equally pretty!  A classic wedding colour combination, black and white have been a staple of more traditional hotel and ballroom weddings for many years, but how about injecting some monochrome style into an outdoor wedding?  By combining classic stripes with zingy pops of colour, I chose pink and yellow for a fresh summer scheme. From striped invitations to fabulous chair sashes, the result is a cool and contemporary look with a punch of fun!  How absolutely adorable are these monochrome striped ‘maids?  Tie in your dress with a simple black sash tied in an elegant bow, front or back for that finishing touch, and gift your groom and groomsmen a quirky striped bow tie teamed with a white shirt and plain suit. On the tables, a crisp striped runner provides the perfect backdrop for a collection of bold and beautiful flowers, I spot roses, peonies, ranunculus and maybe a few billy balls, the green foliage helps keep the look soft and relaxed.
