inspiration board #79: vintage retro
Morning you gorgeous lot! Well, what a weekend! Firstly the frankly amazing weather, it was gorgeous sitting out in the garden this weekend with the laptop blogging away in the sunshine :) And with this weekend being a popular wedding date too I’m sure lots of you were soaking up the rays as you celebrated friends weddings, or maybe even your own (and if you did I’m seriously impressed you’re checking in with b.loved!) My brilliant weekend was finished off with the Paralympic closing ceremony, Mr B and I were lucky enough to get tickets (thanks Dad!) and I was super excited to finally get to experience the Olympic Park and the amazing stadium. Amazing, emotional, inspiring and absolutely epic!! Oh, and Coldplay, Rhianna and JayZ? Totally rocked it!! Check out my instagram @blovedweddings feed for all the action!
Back to reality, and it’s a rather lovely inspiration board today for bride-to-be Ariane. Ariane is another bride I met at The Pretty Blog workshop a few weeks ago (more on that soon!) who got in touch for a little help with bringing her theme together (remember this pretty coral country chic board for Janine a couple of weeks ago?). Ariane is getting married in South Africa next year to fiancé Padraig, in a beautiful old barn, filled with vintage dressers and wooden tables which she wants to transform into a fun and quirky wedding reception with a retro-vintage twist! With red and aqua as her main colours, with a little taupe and white thrown in, we chatted about a loose carnival-inspired theme to include her favourite patterns, polka dots, chevrons and stripes. Ariane is a teacher and loves crafting, so we explored lots of DIY ideas including this super cute bunting save the date, drinks flags and pinwheels which could be hung from the barn ceiling to create an epic feature, and hung in the trees at the ceremony venue to add a little colour and decoration. The venue is set on a sprawling rose farm so flowers are going to be really important, with a loose rustic feel and a few fresh pops of colour to tie in with the overall theme, displayed in mismatch bottles, jars and tins which Ariane and her family are busy collecting! As well as a pretty cake, which I suggested be decorated simply with fresh flowers and a little patterned ribbon, she is going to set up an ice cream parlour, love it!
If you need help with your wedding theme, colours, inspiration or details, remember I also offer my styling services to brides to be! Check out what’s on offer here and get in touch!
