love shoot #61: homemade vintage ~ part 1 {reuben & estelle}

Good morning lovelies! I hope your wedding plans are all going well this week? During these colder months most of you are busy planning your weddings for next spring and summer, and the dark afternoons and winter chill are a great excuse for snuggling up indoors and finding some awesome inspiration in your favourite magazines and blogs. If you’re on the hunt for even more inspiration, why not check out Pinterest? A place where you can save all your favourite images, and follow the pins of all your favourite bloggers, magazines and suppliers it’s packed full of unique and new ideas. You can even follow Bijoux Bride, and get a little sneak peek of all the things I love!

Today, I have a huge smile on my face! You might remember Reuben & Estelle from their 50 First Dates enagement session that I featured a little while ago? After the feature, the lovely Louise & Lewis from Blackbox Photography got in touch to ask me if I wanted to ‘have a wee look’ at Reuben and Estelle’s wedding. Less than five minutes later they had a rather gushing email back from me begging for a feature!

Reuben & Estelle wanted a relaxed and intimate wedding that incorporated all the things they love as a couple. The result is a cute, quirky and above all fun wedding, packed full of emotion, excitement and so much love!

At this point I just have to say – OMG the shoes and OMG the dress!! How much do you just love them?! And I adore the bridesmaid’s pretty blush pink dresses too!

Reuben & Estelle’s relationship has had a few ups and downs, but I love how they are completely undeterred by things getting in their way ~

Reuben and I went to the same University but didn’t actually become friends until after we graduated. A good mutual friend played in a band so we met up at one of his gigs. Our friendship grew. Four months later we were going out, another four months later we got engaged in Edinburgh. Two weeks after that we moved to Japan to teach!! (Shortly after they sadly had to return home due to the devastating earthquake) It was a very crazy, whirlwind relationship. We knew from day one that we would be together forever!

We had two weeks to get the major things organised before moving. Reuben had shot a film at Larchfield Estate before (Reuben is the brilliant videographer behind “show + tell“) and thought I would like it. It was perfect for our laid back personalities. We wanted a stress free day so had the ceremony and reception at the same location. We got married in a barn and had champagne, music and games in the gardens of the estate.

We wanted our wedding to be intimate, relaxed and fun. We didn’t want it to be the norm. We had to be persistent with what we wanted! We didn’t really have a theme other than relaxed. We are both quite creative and a little sentimental. We love all things old and handmade. I guess this was our theme – homemade vintage.

Join me again this afternoon for Part Two ~ full of more fun, romance, and a bride playing cricket!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
