ALETHIEA’S REAL BRIDE DIARY: THE PROPOSAL
It’s a new year, and almost a new wedding season… so you know what that means? It’s about time we introduced you to our Real Brides for 2016! Today we’re meeting the gorgeous Alethiea and husband-to-be Krushi who are tying the knot this summer. Thea is a fine-art wedding photographer with an incredible eye for luxe and beautiful details, so we’re expecting their multicultural wedding to be off-the-charts pretty!
She’s kicking off her B.LOVED bride’s diary with the proposal story – and don’t forget to check out the pic of her ring, what a stunning piece of sparkle!
Hello, my name is Alethiea and I am still getting used to the idea that I am a Bride to be! I work in the wedding industry as a fine art photographer and it feels a little bizarre that I’m now planning my own! Kru and I are getting married in Italy this July in what I lovingly describe as our DIY rustic luxe – Spiritual and Indian fine art wedding. Yes we are having two ceremonies and combining our three different cultures, Scottish, Italian and Indian!
I’m going to go back to the start…I guess you could say it was a whirlwind romance, we met in a departure lounge on the other side of the world whilst waiting for the same connecting flight and we have been together pretty much since. We travelled together and moved in together upon returning. We’re not really cheesy but we have to admit we are disgustingly in love. Within a few weeks of moving in together and liking it, we decided that we should take breaking up off the table permanently, so I knew marriage would happen for us and it was clear I had a good egg. We lived together, moved cities and built my business and 2 years later we decided to buy our own house. Life was busy last year, with a brand new house that needed renovated and my busy season due to start in 4 days time, it was a total surprise when he proposed. I always made it very obvious that I wanted a private proposal and it was perfect! Intimate, simple and sweet.
I met him at the new house, having got the keys only the day before to do some power cleaning. He was acting so loving but also a little strange and I thought it was slightly over the top to get that emotional over what I thought, simply was us buying our first home together. In the shell of our new home, whilst wearing no make up and sweatpants and dancing with him in our empty living room to our song, he got down on one knee and presented me with the most beautiful (closed) box. He was really nervous and in total disbelief I told him he had to open it because I needed to know it wasn’t a pair of earrings! He opened the box to my dream ring (my Pinterest board was obviously for work purposes but had worked a charm!) and asked me to marry him! Both in tears we fell about laughing, crying, laughing some more and we were just in a little bubble. We decided to keep it just between the two of us for a couple of days until we could see our parents and family in person and we celebrated privately with some champagne and catching up on The Flash. The next day…well that was spent just staring at my lovely new ring!
