NOT ON THE HIGH STREET’S WEDDING WONDERLAND

I know that most reading this will assume that I’ve been living under a rock for quite some time but, its true, I’ve never actually used Not On The High Street!  Until very recently that is, and they came to mind after I attended their amazing Wedding Wonderland event held at Clifton Nurseries.

The fabulous Not On The High Street wedding inspiration event showcased hundreds of their suppliers in beautiful settings around the venue that were masterminded and styled by the inimitable Susie Young from Knot and Pop, who I caught up with for a bit of a behind-the-scenes chat:

NOTHS came to us with a bit of a dream brief to concept, curate and style their wedding showcase for press and bloggers. We worked with the fantastic team at Notonthehighstreet.com to pin-point themes and we then devised the look and feel for the event to make it as immersive and inspirational as possible.

We were let loose on their amazing website to filter and select the product that we all felt would really bring the ideas to life and most excite press and shoppers alike. From a Bold & Bright theme that we transferred to a Lounge Area, to a gorgeous Grecian tablescape with jewellery and favour ideas mixed in, to the Pastel trend with lots of fun decs and ideas…not to forget the Marble & Copper central table that played host to a lunch and Afternoon Tea!”

So not only was there a full on ceremony set up with floral arch decorated by Palais Flowers, two stunning table settings, jewellery corners, wedding, thank you and general stationery displays, men’s watches, cufflinks and other jewellery items and so much more – it was as much of a treasure trove as their exhaustive website!

I particularly loved the beautiful table setting where we had lunch, featuring laser-cut place names on pearlescent metallic card from Maria Allen Jewellery which teamed up wonderfully with the gold leaf napkin rings from Mia Fleur (I really need these for next Christmas!).  The linen napkins from Linen Me, gold cutlery from Ideal Home Co and green glassware from Garden Trading were the finishing touches and so ‘on point’ for this year’s colour schemes

These fabulous bronze candle sticks from The Wedding of my Dreams, paired with their copper and bronze tea light holders and vases would look amazing down a long wedding breakfast table, all twinkling candlelight and lush flowers, wow! And these lovely bent wire table numbers from The Letter Loft would fit in perfectly! You could even have a personalised wire alphabet letter for the bride and groom.

But NOTHS is not just about table centres and quirky details, they have an enormous range of jewellery and personal items, much more than many people would imagine from day to day jewellery to more expensive pieces that would be perfect to pop the question with.

A couple of pieces I particularly liked were this vintage style hair vine from Rosie Willett Designs (£158) available in a range of different colours – yellow or rose gold (yay!) or silver.  And this super delicate Llorelei bridal browband from Corrine Smith (£155) which is surely a must for any boho bride (or festival goer!) this summer.

Finding gifts for bridesmaids can be tricky but I think it is problem solved with Minetta Jewellery’s personalised bar necklaces in gold or silver.

Once the big day has come and gone, what then….? It’s time to do the house and you can carry on your love affair with NOTHS by choosing some beautiful pieces for around your new home.  Being a bit of a metal head, I really love these black macramé hanging planters with copper from The Best Room and these unusual copper edged hexagon mirrors from Mia Fleur.

Finally, snuggle up on the sofa, look through your personalised Monogram Wedding Guest Book from Clouds and Currents and light up some of these cute concrete candle holders from Marquis and Dawe…. Welcome to married life courtesy of Not on The High Street!!

After working with range of insping lifestyle magazines such as Elle Decoration and Country Homes & Interiors, I left to pursue a creative career in floristry. 16 years on, and I now runs Blue Sky Flowers from my Covent Garden Market studio, and am still learning and challenging myself every day! I love all kinds of flowers - apart from yellow ones if truth be told - I especially love working on weddings, meeting couples and bringing their ideas to life.
