Phoebe & Gavin’s Creative Coral Wedding {Part 2}

rainy day wedding

Afternoon wedding lovers! As promised we’re back with more of Phoebe & Gavin’s totally stylish wedding and one of the prettiest couple shoots I’ve seen, all shot on film by CKB Photography. If you missed Part One click here.  The atmosphere of the portraits is stunning, the formal gardens and rose-covered house backdrop remind me of the romance of ‘Atonement’ in the prettiest possible way.  Of course, it helps that Phoebe & Gavin are movie star good-looking, Keira & James eat your heart out!  Look out for the dessert table too – a feast of inspiration with a gorgeous ribbon backdrop and pops of pink & coral peonies!

Pinterest has been my biggest source of inspiration, its perfect if you’re planning quite a DIY wedding as there are tutorials for literally anything you could wish for! From there it was just matter of narrowing down the hundreds of ideas we had to make everything work together and not look homemade in a bad way! Gavin was very good at reining me in, and questioning things so that I tested out my ideas and refined them before the big day.

All of our wedding was do-it-yourself! The flowers, the tassels, the favours, the fruit cake, my dress, the table décor! My friend drew me some lovely little viola illustrations that we printed onto water colour paper with washes of pink and coral paint for the name cards, she then hand wrote each one. I was so pleased with them and used the same illustrations and colour wash technique for the menus and order of service.  I was bursting with ideas and so excited about the wedding that I just wanted to be involved at every stage, I was so proud seeing it all come together and will be forever grateful for all my friends help!!

Our flowers were peonies, peonies and more peonies! They are my favourite flower and so I had about 20 different varieties and colours, my friends and I arranged them all the day before the wedding. One of my bridesmaids mums is a florist so she made out bouquets from peonies, sweetpeas and freesia & the button holes from freesia and a tiny coral rose for Gavin.

Our photographer was Charlie Kingsland-Barrow, I knew her before the wedding as we’d collaborated before, so I knew as soon as we got engaged she was the one and luckily the feeling was mutual!! We love our photos and Charlie’s way or working, nothing felt staged and the fact she uses film was a real selling point as her photos have such a flattering and romantic quality.

advice

I wouldn’t have done anything differently, as long as we ended up married that day, as far as I was concerned nothing could have gone wrong! Our advice to anyone planning their wedding now is; don’t be afraid to shun tradition, we missed a lot of ‘traditions’ out and I don’t think anyone even noticed, everyone kept saying all day how personal and “us” the day felt.

Louise

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
