WEDDINGS

real wedding: blush & bunting {vicky & nick}

Good morning my lovely readers! It’s a busy week here at b.loved HQ, we’re prepping for a very exciting international new year shoot, styling weddings and sourcing the final touches for our very first b.team mini-collaboration this weekend!  In between the ribbons and spreadsheets, I’ve been finding some of the prettiest real weddings to share, and I’m so happy to share this one today from Tatum Reid.

Tatum has been on my ‘photographers to watch’ radar since last year, and I was thrilled to meet her at Christine Meintjes photography workshop this summer!  After the workshop, Tatum sent over a preview of Vicky & Nick’s super pretty shabby-chic wedding at Brasted’s in Norfolk. Full of pinks and pastels, blush and bunting, and lots of sweet DIY details, this is one for the inspiration folder!  I looooove Vicky’s fairytale Mori Lee dress, stunning natural makeup (the perfect bridal look for me!) gorgeous blush pink colour scheme and pretty country-chic touches!

Nick and I met through a mutual friend on a random night out in our home city.  We all got chatting and my friend and I wanted a holiday – Nick was living in Guernsey at the time, so he invited us to stay with him for a few days.  On holiday we both got on really well and I didn’t want to go home – we ended up changing our flights and staying a few extra days.  After 6 months of travelling back and forth I decided to move over to Guernsey to be with Nick.  I got a job over there and the rest is history!  He finally proposed to me after we had moved back to our home city Norwich and settled into our new house which we renovated together.  Mt engagement ring was from a local jewellers in Guernsey and so made it even more special.

My dress was from Blu by Mori Lee.  Layered organza, very soft, but very big!  It had a beautiful blush coloured sash around the waist which was a big inspiration for the whole wedding.  I wanted to be comfortable so I wore pearl & diamanté flat sandals from Office and my jewellery was very pale pink Swarovski crystals.  The bridesmaids had handmade dresses from a local dressmaker.  Beautiful floor length gowns with a blush satin underneath and a latte coloured fine chiffon over the top – this gave the dress a pink/mink colour which complemented my dress and the groom and groomsmen’s colours.

Our Venue was Brasted Manor Farm in Norwich.  Our theme was country garden, shabby chic.  We used lots of pastel colours and flowers such as ranunculus and peonies to keep it very soft and romantic.

 The whole wedding was a DIY project! We made all our own stationery and yards of bunting to decorate the barn.  I also made ‘JUST MARRIED’  handing stuffed letters, a wedding post box, table plan and sweetie table sign.  To add a personal touch we hung a memorable photo of each of our guests on string around the room.  Most of my inspiration came from wedding magazines and trawling the internet, mixed with a little of my own imagination.

I enjoyed every minute and cannot possibly pick one part over another!

What was your first dance and how did you choose the song?

Beyonce – At Last.  I watched Beyonce sing it for Barrack Obama & the First Lady, and cried because it was so beautiful.

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Plan ahead and remember to enjoy all the lead up.  On the day you don’t want to be stressed out because you were rushing and forgot something.  Rope friends and family in to help – everyone enjoyed being part of our special day

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
