real wedding: chic & intimate yellow & grey wedding {angie & nick}

So by now you guys know that of all the colour palettes out there for your wedding, yellow and grey get me every single time.  So of course when Stacey of Lovely You Photography submitted this oh-so-chic yellow and grey wedding I was pretty much smitten from the get go.  Add a touch of sparkle for some understated glamour and I am literally swooning!  But wait, it only gets better!  Bride and groom, Angie and Nick, planned an intimate wedding with close family and friends, beautiful details and personal touches, that made their day all the more so special.  I love the dahlia bouquets, fun and fresh pops of colour in the patterned table linen, and Angie’s cute and flirty short dress with a little bit of bling. But most of all I love the old front door backdrop to their reception table!

I had a very clear vision for my wedding from the start. I knew I wanted it to be non-traditional. I opted for a dessert buffet instead of a wedding cake, a short dress instead of a long one, and short and sweet ceremony performed by one of my best friends. It may not have fit with what many people consider to be a typical wedding, but to me it was absolutely perfect!

I tried to incorporate many personal handmade touches in my wedding. My grandmother helped me sew my table runners, my mother-in-law wrote out my place cards by hand, and my sister and I went to the San Francisco flower mart at 3am a couple of days before the wedding to select all of the flowers. So in short, when I looked around at the décor all of the elements had a special meaning to me.

The one moment from my wedding that really sticks out was during dinner. I looked around at all of the people we love and care about sharing a fabulous family style meal, talking, laughing, and enjoying the food and it brought me an immense amount of joy.

My recommendation to all future brides is to make your wedding exactly the way you want it and do not settle for less.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
