Happy Wednesday my loves. It’s a busy week behind the scenes at b.loved HQ with dress fittings and final preparations for an upcoming shoot (in France!!), catching up with my favourite wedding friends and planning new additions to the blog in the next couple of months.  I’m sure these cold winter’s days are keeping you indoors too, the perfect excuse to catch up on all the latest wedding inspiration.  Perhaps today’s real wedding will be just your cup of tea?  Yes, Fiona & Philip (who’s House of Love engagement shoot I featured last year) themed their wedding around their joint appreciation of tea! With an abundance of pretty teapot details and a gorgeous blue & white colour palette inspired by gorgeous Delft-style china, their wedding is so cute!

The beautiful photography comes from one of my fave Surrey photographers,  Juliet Mckee.

Fiona explains the details ~

There’s no need for Cilla Black when you have a rather forceful university pal! Philip and I were “encouraged” to meet by one of my University girlfriends.  Despite it going down in history as the worst possible blind date there must have been some spark created!! A disastrous first date somehow led to further dates– the old saying give it three dates before it’s a NO was playing on my mind!!! Date three was meant to be a pub lunch followed by a walk. However it was pouring with rain so the pub lunch was followed by several pots of tea and plenty of banter! Ever since then we have not stopped sharing pots of tea and plenty of laughter… needless to say the theme for our wedding was tea!

Having had four girlfriends and a sister-in-law all find that perfect dress at Miss Bush, Ripley I thought I should start my search there! Once again they came up trumps and I will never forget my bridesmaid faces as I walked out of the fitting room.  The bridesmaid dresses were not so easy! One bridesmaid lives in Sydney and another who would be 8 ½ months pregnant by the big day! However I managed to find an empire dress in the royal blue colour that we wanted. The dresses were strapless however each bridesmaid customised the dress to make different straps to suit their likeness and they looked fabulous!

Having a theme really helped pull together our thoughts for our big day and we went TEA mad! Our table plan had each table in the shape of a teapot and the table name written on the tea bag. Each table was named after types of tea – Earl Grey, Peppermint, Redbush – we had it all! Our top tier of the wedding cake was a giant tea pot with an iced teabag saying ‘love is brewing’! Our name places and favours were combined by having a cup and saucer shaped shortbread biscuit that were iced in our colour with the guest name. Then instead of the sweetie table we had a tea table where guests could help themselves to a selection of different teas throughout the reception!

It is hard to pick out one favourite moment but I did love walking up the aisle in the arms of one man I love so much to the arms of another!

What was your first dance, and how did you choose the song?

At Last By Etta James…. Why because it was all our friends and families response when we told them we were engaged!!!!

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Weddings are certainly not cheap but two definite must have ingredients that that are really worth every pennie – invest in your photographer. I met with several before I found the perfect person and we were so pleased – Juliet is such a talented photographer.  Hair and make up – you wear the most amazing dress so why finish there! Lorraine Milligan is a true professional a completely calming influence for the bride and everyone else involved on the morning of the wedding!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
