Romance and Relaxation at Iscoyd Park
A few weeks ago, on a sunny Friday afternoon Mr B and I made the trip from London to the beautiful Shropshire countryside to spend a night at Iscoyd Park. One of the UK’s most beautiful wedding venues, this delightful venue has been on my must-see list for quite some time, so needless to say I was more than happy to be invited along for an evening of relaxation and luxury.
Set in beautiful parkland on the borders of Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales, Iscoyd is a romantic Georgian mansion house managed and owned by the very lovely Phil and Susie. As a wedding venue Iscoyd boasts a wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere where you and your guests can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings both inside and out. From the cosy little drawing room, filled with albums of previous Iscoyd couples, to the light and bright Drawing room, where friends and family can enjoy drinks before the ceremony, to the stunning Garden Room overlooking the terraces and perfectly manicured gardens. This double-height, curved space has an almost church-like feel, making it the perfect spot for a romantic, spiritual wedding ceremony, flooded with natural light.
This flows into a permanent marquee structure, with everything from fairy lights to heating making it a pretty and practical space for your wedding breakfast and reception. Moving back into the Garden Room later in the evening, your guests will find it transformed into a trendy space and dancefloor with coloured lighting and a bar so well stocked it could take on any city nightclub! The gardens are just as wonderful, with open terraces and hidden corners concealing unexpected surprises. Steal a few quiet moments away with your photographer by the venue’s own lake – complete with rowing boat – for the ultimate romantic wedding portraits.
The house is exclusive hire, meaning you can take it over for one, two or even three nights to really make the most of precious time with family and friends. Iscoyd boasts three award winning bedrooms, and two stable cottages, designed by Suzy Hoodless – each complete with the finest Egyptian cotton sheets, luxury bath products, bathrobes, selection of teas and coffees, and the most beautiful scents. The bridal suite, with it’s imposing four poster bed and chandelier is the perfect space for getting ready with your girls, and getting romantic with your new husband.
My lasting memory of Iscoyd is the glow of dozens of scented candles in the grand hallway, friendly smiles and a house which still retains the feeling of a much loved family home. And for a celebration that is all about family and love, I think that’s pretty darn perfect.
