supplier spotlight #7: behind the scenes {a secret garden}

Hello lovelies!

How did it get round to being Friday again so soon?  Nevermind though, as tomorrow I’m off to The Luxury Wedding Show for a dose of pretty and a glass of champagne or two ;)  I’m meeting up with some of my fellow blogging friends including Gaby from Cap Classique & Michelle from Pocketful of Dreams, and am looking forward to meeting some of the amazing suppliers I regularly chat to on twitter, as well as some new ones too!  I’m really excited to have been invited along to the Catwalk shows, where some top name designers will be showcasing their collections.  Keep an eye on my twitter feed for updates and snapshots throughout the day!

Before all that though, I’d like to introduce you properly to the fabulous ladies that I worked with on my Secret Garden shoot featured earlier this week.  If you missed it you can catch up on Part One and Part Two!

It all started early one Sunday morning when, with the threat of rain, I packed my car up with goodies and picked up the flowers from Gardenia of London.  Based in the pretty Wimbledon Village, they are a family run business with a personal touch and over 15 years of experience.  They stock a large range of flowers in their rustic-inspired shop, where you can pick out your favourite blooms for your wedding with one of their friendly florists.  They have a pretty, quintessentially English style, perfect for a garden or marquee wedding.  Gardenia offer a full wedding service, ranging from a simple bouquet to full venue decoration across the UK.

When I arrived at The Medicine Garden that Sunday morning, I was greated by a perfect sunny sky!  The staff at the venue made us feel instantly at home, and we were soon digging into tea & cakes from their kitchen cafe!  The Medicine Garden is the perfect setting for a relaxed spring or summer wedding, with the walled garden creating that intimate home-from home feeling.  The picturesque village church of St Andrew’s is just a minutes walk away, creating the opportunity to hold your ceremony nearby.

{Sareta applying Caroline’s makeup, and Kim making a start on that amazing braid}

With the models arriving, Kim Roy and Sareta Gabriel our hair stylist and makeup artist for the day, set about making our beautiful models even more gorgeous!  Kim is an award winning hair stylist, who works on photo shoots, fashion shows as well as creating the perfect look for her brides with creative flair.  Sareta trained at The London College of Fashion before becoming a freelance makeup artist, who now has 8 years of experience working with brides on their special day.  Kim and Sareta are the perfect addition to your bridal prep, helping you achieve your look with lots of fun and giggles along the way!

While the girls were busy getting ready, I met the two ladies behind The Wedding of My Dreams, Gemma & Karen.  With a love of weddings, and a passion for inspiring brides to create a unique look for their big day, their online store is a treasure trove of goodies for any wedding style, from modern glamour to vintage chic and everything in between!

{bespoke lavender themed stationery}

Tying the elements together was a pretty lavender inspired stationery collection from Bonnie Blackbird, talented bespoke stationers who create beautiful printed & mounted stationery in a range of styles to suit any number of styles, often finished with a ribbon or embellishment for an extra special touch.

{sweetheart necklace & lace skirt short dress, broderie anglaise coloumn dress}

The bridal look came together with our gorgeous dresses from Luella’s Boudoir.  This boutique in Wimbledon is an oasis of calm on the busy high street, showcasing a collection of dresses and accessories from independant designers from around the world, including Charlotte Casadejus and Caroline Atelier dresses, Rachel Simpson and Emmy shoes, and recently adding Jannie Baltzer accessories to their in store range.  Rachel is passionate and friendly, giving great advice to her brides, she clearly cares about their big day.

{silver & rose hair pin, gold & plum bracelet and brooch}

The look was completed with jewellery from Charlotte Giles, a jeweller who worked at Yarwood-White before using her skill to create her own jewellery range.  With a dainty, beaded style, all the pieces used in our shoot were bespoke, and she would be happy to create something unique for you around the style of your own wedding day.  Charlotte’s website is launching soon, keep an eye out on Bijoux Bride for an update in the next few weeks!

Of course, Liesl Cheney was on hand ready to capture the whole day, including the behind the scenes moments.  Liesl is an exceptionally talented up & coming photographer.  She is originally from South Africa and has lived around the world before settling in London with her husband.  Liesl’s style is fresh and modern, and she has a passion for capturing the whole story of your day, including those hidden, intimate moments.

Our beautiful models Claire & Caroline, were the perfect brides! A huge thank you to you both for coming along to play dress up!!

Working on a styled shoot is hard work, and the preparation doesn’t just take place on the day, but also in the weeks and days leading up to the shoot itself.  Each one of the suppliers involved work hard to create something beautiful with me, and I know they would be thrilled and excited to work with you to create your dream wedding day too.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
