vintage trolley cake display

A few weeks ago thousands of crafters, bloggers & makers decended on Hampton Court for Kirstie Allsopp’s The Handmade Fair, and I was so excited to join them!  As well as getting to take part in some of the amazing hands-on workshops and talks (and, um, the Shopping Village of cours!), I was asked by the team behind the fair at Brand Events to lend a hand styling the Press Lounge.  I also got to host my very first #InstaPrettyParty sessions, teaching press & bloggers (and a few super keen crafters) how to create a beautifully styled Instagram feed to suit their brand.

I was joined for the weekend by the wonderful Alethia from Xander & Thea Photography and photographer Sarah Hannam, who happily snapped away at all the pretty so I could share it with you right here!

In the Press Lounge I went for a modern take on vintage florals, mixing a little B.LOVED style with the clashing colours (yellow & pink!) and prints I know Kirstie loves.  The focus was an amazing floral wall, created with the help of the amazing Bluesky Flowers (and long-suffering Daddy B.LOVED who wallpapered like a boss!) and adorned with faux roses, peonies and hydrangea and set off with the fabulous pink velvet ‘Suzy’ sofa from Vintage Style Hire. She also made an incredible floral chandelier which hang from the ceiling of the tent – swoooon!!! The fabulous ‘Daphne’ dresser and a gorgeous farmhouse table kept my workshop sessions pretty (I totally wanted to take it home!), while SK Cakes designed a duo of gorgeous floral cakes which I styled on a stunning gold trolley alongside Fentimans Lemonade (what else?!).  The Little Lending Company supplied some beautiful vintage glassware which Bluesky Flowers displayed flowers in, as well as gold sprayed jam jars (loved those!)

I was totally overwhelmed by the turnout to our #InstaPrettyParty sessions – over 75 lovely people came to hear me waffle on about my love of Instagram (seriously, it’s my fave!).  It was great to see so many friendly faces from lifestyle bloggers and craft business owners, to magazine editors and even a (super cute & trendy) teen blogger!! We had so much fun styling up some mini Instagram shots with pretty props provided by Peach Blossom, Brooklyn Bridal {launching later this month – find out more on B.LOVED soon!} and The Sweet Hostess, as well as from the B.LOVED prop cupboard.  At the end of each session everyone got to take away the prettiest info pack created by those clever ladies at Eagle Eyed Bride (we’ve so much love for these two!), a bottle of pop and a delicious cookie from SK Cakes adorned with vintage florals and our #InstaPrettyParty hashtag!

In between the fun, I got to soak up the atmosphere at the fair, popping my head into a couple of workshop sessions (which looked amazing – I’ll definitely booking some in next year) and wandering around the Shopping Village where I found a few new favourite suppliers… The colourful handwoven baskets at The Basket Room caught my eye and my heart, when I heard about their aim to employ and educate women about business in Kenya where ladies craft these ethically sourced creations using traditional weaving techniques.  I also loved Paperpoms giant flowers, modelled beautifully! They’d be a fab alternative to pompoms or honeycomb balls as wedding or party décor!  Of course I couldn’t resist the adorable hand smocked dresses & at Annafie, as modelled by darling Prince George!

I wanted everything at Fleurs who create contemporary concrete pots, terrariums with on-trend geometric designs for succulents & cacti, as well as host workshops to show you how to create and care for your plants.  I dropped into The English Stamp Company for a quick browse too – so many fun ideas for using stamps here, from creating bottle labels to your own wrapping paper! Onto the jewellery, and I loved the designs at Charlotte Bezzant, totally popping a few pieces on my Christmas list.  Speaking of Christmas, I’d highly recommend these super soft blankets from twig for a touch of festive comfort, so many pretty colours! Last but by no means least, we headed to Peach Blossom for a rifle through the gorgeous partyware and décor on offer – because you can never overdress a party!

Did you head to The Handmade Fair too? What was your favourite part, and who did you meet?!

I, for one, can’t wait for next year…

A special shout out goes to my set-up and dismantling team, Susie from SK Cakes, Lauradana from Wedding Creations, Laura from Things by Laura, Liz from Bluesky Flowers and Mr & Mrs Anneli Marinovich Photography. THANK YOU!!!!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
