BELT UP!
Hi readers! We’re Alice and Hannah from Belle & Bunty, and we’re so excited to join the team as Lifestyle writers for B.LOVED! We’ll be sharing our fave fashion finds here every month, let’s get stuck in!
After months of living in chunky winter knits and oversize coats, when the slightly warmer days of Spring roll around and new collections hit the stores we give a little cheer at the prospect of finally not looking like the Michelin man’s better dressed sister {never a good look, but always an inevitable one as its nearly impossible to stay chic when the temperature drops, or is that just us?!} The chunky pieces can be ditched but layers remain until the days get a teeny bit brighter, lighter and warmer, but how to remain stylish when you still need loadsa layers?
On the catwalk for SS15 the waisted belt ruled and we think the cinched-in look is the perfect way to take your look through to the days of Spring and beyond. Add a nautical touch with Veronique Branquinho’s roped styles around layered skirts, dresses and wide leg pants. To mimic Isabel Marant’s bohemian’s laid back nonchalance, belt over your blazer and dress with a wide waspie or chunky rope. Burberry wrapped wide pretty bows of tulle over their infamous trench coats, albeit with bold and bright prints, and BCBG Max Azria layered slim kimono belts of separates and dresses to emphasise the waist.
For the perfect masculine/feminine fusion we’ll be grabbing The Husband’s leather belt to tie around our pretty dresses to emphasise that after months of hidng it away, the waist is still there….somewhere!
