With summer holidays already a distant memory, September is the time to start planning an autumnal city break.  I love Europe at this time of year, when the crowds have dispersed but there’s still a buzz and the thermometer has dialled it down a notch or two resulting in perfect sight-seeing weather.  For city breaks a capsule wardrobe is the key, to keep up with the super-stylish locals in Paris, Rome or Berlin opt for a chic palette of warm, autumnal neutrals which you can always pep up with a statement necklace or three!  If you’re heading off somewhere lovely this Autumn, then here’s my city break packing guide…

The Skinny Jeans

You cannot go wrong with these jeans from Oasis. Trust me. Just the right amount of stretch guarantees a perfect fit every time.

The Trench

I’m never without my trusty trench in the autumn months, perfect for those slightly chillier evenings when a coat is just too much.  I know it’s Burberry, but we’re so over that now, right? And it’s super chic.

The Knit

Unpredictable weather calls for layers, and this poncho from Oasis ticks all the boxes for me.  Love the slightly oversized fit.  And the colour.

The Boots

Mint Velvet have got it so right this year with their fringed boots.  They’re available in Camel, Grey and Black. One in every colour?

The Sparkle

I love me an embellished collar (yes, I’m totally late to the party) and I’ve got my eye on this beauty from Ted Baker. Loving the slouchy look too.

The Flats

Say ‘chic ballet flats’ and I immediately thing of French Sole.  These are so Parisienne it almost hurts. Loving the quilted leather toe!

The Dress

This dress manages to be classic, trendy, comfy and chic all at the same time.  The clever folk at Oliver Bonas have definitely mastered the dress, and oh, the animal print!

The Umbrella

I don’t want to burst your bubble… but it’s Europe, in Autumn, so it probably definitely will rain.  You won’t mind so much if you get to bust out this cute little brolly though, plus it’s the perfect excuse to snuggle under together!

The Bag

City breaks are tricky on the bag front, you need something big enough to fit bulky hotel keys, phone, purse, map etc, but not so bulky it gets annoying carrying it around all day.  I think the Cedar Street from Kate Spade may be the solution.  It’s cross-body, which means hands-free and I adore the two-tone look!

Are you off on a city break this season? What will be making it’s way into your case? Whatever it is, we’re sure you’ll look très chic!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
