When Louise asked for a volunteer to attend The Clothes Show on behalf of BLOVED, I was immediately hit with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. As a bright eyed and bushy tailed teenager the schools annual trip to The Clothes Show was a particular highlight of mine. So I was quick to grasp the opportunity to re-visit the event in my adult years and see if it conjured up the same feelings of excitement in me now as it did then.

Having arrived at The Clothes Show later than planned {there is ALWAYS more traffic on the M5 than I anticipate} we entered the NEC to seeing people scuttling about, hands laden with multicoloured shopping bags and the buzz and excitement kicked in.

We swiftly grabbed our press passes and got ready to explore… The exhibition had it’s own unique separate areas. The Image Catwalk representing a diverse and eclectic mix of fashion for all tastes. There was The Boutique Area which was perfect for people seeking out one off treasure not to be found on the high street. And we also had the pleasure of visiting The Hair and Beauty area.

As you can imagine there were a number highlights, wonderful brands and designers showcasing their talents and beautiful designs. So which ones were my ultimate faves? Keep reading to find out…

As the high street fashion favourite of our founder Louise, the Oasis “stand” didn’t disappoint. They rocked up in a super, pink, chic Winnebago. With chunky knitwear, pink neon ducks and a pink SMEG fridge jam packed with all manner of accessories {because where else would you store them?!} I loved their fun approach. I can also let you in on the secret that Oasis do have a plus size range in the pipeline too!!!

Sarah and I could smell Flamingo Candles stall before we could see it… and what a fragrant treat it was. I favoured the fruity and sweet hues of strawberry and Crème Brulee whereas Sarah was a big fan of the calming scent of Green Tea.

Chatting with owner Ryan was a pleasure and his passion for the brand was really inspiring. Flamingo candles are hand made and insist on using soybeans and natural cotton wicks to help preserve the environment.

I actually discovered Rianna Phillips on Instagram ahead of the show so made a bee line for her stand. I really loved the innovative nature of her designs. From cushions to clutch bags, Rianna creates them all using photographic images that she has captured around the world from the marble sculptures in Italy through to the palm trees in Indonesia.

I adore a bold, simplistic jewellery designs, and Tada And Toy made my heart sing. I was really stuck when it came to making a purchase on the day but have since bought this little beauty which I have received lots of compliments on.

With my complete adoration for all things metallic {seriously, I am like a moth to a flame} I can seriously say Blu Studio’s stand may have been my favourite… rose gold, copper, silver, pewter… I wanted to take each and every item by Blu Studio home with me.

There is a small team behind this brand manufacturing everything by hand guaranteeing the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship within every item.

I bought a rose gold leather clutch lined with the softest of purple suede which I just know is going to be a firm favourite for years to come.

Dramatic and forward thinking are the words I would use to describe Shoreditch born brand Prey Of London. Their sequin jacket drew me in like a magpie and I loved the geometric patterns they incorporated in to many of their designs.

Never in a million years did I think you would convince me to step away from my trusty GHD’s and give another hair styling brand consideration. Boy has The Clothes Show changed that.

I am now a fully fledged, Cloud Nine convert. Brand creator Robert Powls was one of the original founders behind GHD and thought he could improve on it {quite the tall order} but he has succeeded. I loved my finger wave curls the lovely stylist gave me and have added the Cloud 9 Touch to my must have list!

I’m Helen {or Helz to my friends and family} and I am the founder of award winning wedding blog The Wedding Bazaar. After spending my 20’s as a “Legal Eagle” I feel much more "at home" now surrounded by wedding pretty, writing about {and obsessing over} plus size fashion and lusting over interior decor for my fantasy home.

With an “enthusiasm” for Nars lipsticks, diamond rings and far flung destinations you could say I have champagne tastes with a lemonade budget.

I am a messy perfectionist who lives in the welsh metropolis that is Cardiff with my hubby and an ever increasing shoe collection. I can’t wait to share my latest finds and musings with you lovely readers of B.LOVED
