DIY: LOVE SHINE A LIGHT
We love a project at B.LOVED HQ, so when Wedding Ideas Magazine asked us to contribute to their latest DIY special I jumped at the opportunity to get a little hands on! I wanted to create something pretty that would look fab at a wedding, party or celebration, but could also add a little personality at home. Using a few simple items from my local DIY store, I created this DIY illuminated sign. It’s sure to impress your guests, whatever the occasion, and I promise it’s super simple to make too!
YOU WILL NEED:
- A3 sheet of 10mm MDF board (from your local hardware store or amazon.co.uk)
- Drill
- 6mm drill bit
- Paint to match your wedding colours
- Battery-operated fairy lights
HOW TO:
Begin by marking out your letters in pencil, it’s easiest to create and print out your own template otherwise it can be tricky to get the spacing right!
Carefully drill each hole – prop the board up on tin cans or jars so you don’t accidently drill through the surface below!
Paint the board in your chosen colour, taking care not to fill up the holes with paint.
From the back, pop a light in each hole, and secure the battery pack out of sight with tape. Voilá! A beautiful illuminated sign ready for your big day!
Top Tip:
To hang this on a wall, just add a couple of screws to the back and string a wire between.
