THE LBD EDIT
This time of year is all about fun and celebration, and with all those office parties and festive gatherings coming up I’m sure you’ve had a few ‘OMG I have nothing to wear!’ moments?! My fall back option is always a classic LBD, and although I have a few hanging in my closet I seem to be continually on the search for the perfect style – until now!
Top of my covet-list for this party season is an Emma Hunt Little Black Dress. This artisan collection of dresses has been lovingly designed by Emma, and each one is handmade in her South West London studio. Using only the finest fabrics and natural fibres, such as pure silk crepe, silk taffeta and some wonderful British lace makes Emma’s dresses a real luxury. And there’s something for every woman too – with 16 beautiful styles all designed with real women and body shapes in mind there is a dress to flatter everyone. My favourite is the Daisy – I love the guipure lace bodice with capped sleeves and the box-pleat skirt!

Why did you descide to design a collection of just Little Black Dresses? To bring a little luxury to every occasion!
What’s your starting point when designing a dress? I think a lot about what I want to achieve, who the dress is for and the kind event to will be worn to.
How do you develop the designs? I concentrate on shape and texture, as well as working with beautiful fabrics.
How much input do your clients have in the creative process? Our Little Black Dress collection can be customised to suit you – lengthening a hemline, adding a sleeve or changing a neckline! Our bespoke clients have a lot more input on their final dress design, with advice and guidance from me on what will flatter and suit their style.
What materials and embellishments can you offer? We mainly work with silk although any natural fibres are an option if they work for the style of the dress. We also have a range of embellishments from French lace, corded, Chantilly, silk flowers or Victoria Fergusson hand-beaded appliques
What makes your collection unique? We offer our ladies a combination of natural fibres, brilliant cut and fit with a terrific personal service
What to you love most about the design world? That everyone is different
What do you think of trends? My style is timeless – trends can be acknowledged but not followed
What challenges have you set yourself for the next 12 months? I would love to see the LBD Collection in one of the major London Department Stores – Fenwicks, Selfridges and ultimately on Net-A-Porter!
