Mood Board: Fabulous Festive Inspiration
Our latest mood board explores the warmth and richness of the festive season. Whether you are planning a festive wedding or organising a Christmas celebration for friends or family, the classic combination of green, red and gold is a winner.
Cosy candlelight is perfect for the winter months, especially when paired with rustic wood and lush textures like woollen rugs, sheepskins and hide. Nothing creates mood better than candles. Use different shapes and sizes to add character. And if you have a fireplace, use it to add warmth and ambience to the room. The mantlepiece can be decorated cheaply and easily with decadent foliage reminiscent of the season (like ivy, yew and fir).
Tap further into the seasonal spirit by using bright red florals like red hypericum berries or poinsettias (we also love the white poinsettias) and combining these with hints of eucalyptus and some rustic pine cones. Use red spray roses to add opulence. Think about making flower crowns with fresh foliage and berries for guests and keep tablescapes simple but luxurious with soft flowing ribbons, good quality linens and minimal decoration such as a sprig of berries or pine. If you want something more eye catching, consider a floral centrepiece or runner and we love the idea of incorporating an individual cloth wrapped Christmas pud for each of your guests as part of the place settings.
If you are going festive, why not carry the theme through to your catering. For drinks, incorporate festive garnishes like dried apples and oranges with cinnamon. We love these champagne cocktails decorated with fresh blueberries and thyme from our Festive Wedding in a Winter Wonderland feature.
So, it’s time to start decking the halls! Remember not to go overboard and use neutral colours like browns and creams to balance the bold colours of the season. Festive can be fabulous, especially when done in a thoughtful and refined way.
