Having honeymooned myself in Kenya’s Masai Mara, and having been on many a safari since, I simply cannot recommend this once-in-a-lifetime experience enough! Tell us about The Luxury Safari Co.

We specialise in unique and off the beaten track safaris which always include excursions that others can only dream of. Having lived and worked in the industry for over ten years, we are famous for being able to organise the most luxurious safaris in the most remote and game-rich areas of Africa.

Why safari?

There is something about Africa which draws you back time and time again. The vast open spaces are so magical that they take your breath away. Afternoons spent sitting with a pride of lion, watching the sunset break into a million colours before you, as they start to roar into the night. To experience the kind of wilderness you get in Africa is nothing short of life changing.

What destinations do you cover, and what do they offer?

Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Mozambique, Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar and Zanzibar! Honeymoons in Africa offer guests the chance to go from one of the most romantic safari lodges in the world, usually set in remote locations, often on the banks of hippo-filled rivers, to a tropical Indian ocean island in under a day.

What’s the best time of year to visit?

Depending on where you want to go, there is always a part of Africa which offers great weather and game all year round.

What do you think is the recipe for a perfect honeymoon?

I think the recipe for a perfect honeymoon definitely lies with finding the right operator, since a true expert will be able to pin point the exact lodge and hotel which will suit you – this applies to all the world. I think it’s important not to crowd your honeymoon with too many stops or destinations.

What’s your favourite safari destination?

The Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana are literally magical! San Camp in particular.

What would you suggest for couples looking for

Go for the lodges and beach hotels with private plunge pools, this way you’ll have utter privacy all day.

… luxury hideaway?

Choose a more remote safari location, such as Southern Tanzania, the Kalahari in Botswana or Northern Kenya, that way your lodge will be remote and exclusive.

A riding safari, canoe safari or walking safari can be an amazing addition to any luxury honeymoon.
