LAID BACK LUXURY AT ALAVYA
In my last post I talked about how January was a great month for some home DIY and a little bit of TLC. This month I’m getting all wander-lusty and think it’s probably around now we all get a little bit tired of the grey winter days and fancy something a little bit more exotic. True…?
Well if this is you and you’re currently wondering where to explore this year then let me tell you about this little Turkish gem I found last September. Alavya is laid-back luxury at it’s finest. A chic and contemporary hotel in the middle of the small town of Alacati, we instantly fell in love with its cool Mediterranean vibes. The hotel is made up of 6 rustic townhouses (one painted in the prettiest of pale pink!) spread out across the property creating a romantic and boutique feel as well as ensuring that all important privacy.
The townhouses are surrounded by lush gardens and delicious Cyprus trees, and of course the pool. Although intimate, this is quite possibly the coolest pool I’ve ever seen with its vertical stripes and day bed set-up. The bedroom designs have been well thought out ensuring they are stylish yet beyond comfortable. With the wet-room-esque bathroom stocked in Acqua di Parma products, a Nespresso machine tucked away behind wooden shutters, a lust-worthy Calder mobile hanging above a chaise longue and traditional pastries left temptingly each day – I really didn’t want to leave.
What made us choose Alacati…? Well, last year the boy and I both started new businesses so by the time September came round we knew we needed to get away for a week to refresh. We wanted to find a little bolt hole, that wasn’t too far to fly and somewhere we could potentially whip out the laptop should we need to do a little bit of emailing.
Alacati, was the perfect location. We went out of season so the town didn’t feel too busy – although for the beach lovers amongst you take note that most of the beaches close at this time of year. In the evenings we strolled the quaint cobbled streets, sipped on local teas and found delicious restaurants to indulge in.
By day it was all about Alavya.
If you fancy your own chic getaway then my top packing tips would be simple cotton kaftans, your kindle and a smile.
