LIFE BEGINS
Morning my loves! After a weekend of birthday celebrations with my favouritest people, I’m taking a little break to celebrate my actual birthday today (the older you get, the more days you need to celebrate, it’s a rule!) but I didn’t want to leave you without some Monday morning reading material (and there’s totally a beautiful shoot scheduled for this afternoon which is a perfect celebration too!)
While I’m looking forward to January as the start of a new year for B.LOVED, turning a year older is the perfect time to set myself some personal goals for the year ahead. Whoever said life begins at 30/40/50 is wrong; life begins with every birthday, so here are my promises to myself in my 32nd year (gulp!)
1. MORE ME TIME
Being a blogger, stylist, mentor, businesswoman, homeowner, friend, daughter, confidente…(get the picture?) is a huge demand on my time, and don’t get me wrong I LOVE it… but sometimes I forget to take a little time out for me. That’s something I’m sure every single one of us is guilty of to some extent, so over the next 12 months I’m making a concerted effort to pamper myself a bit with some proper time out. It doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated; just a walk in the park, coffee with friends, taking a long hot bath or curling up on the sofa with a mug of tea and a glossy mag… yup bliss!
2. TRAVEL & EXPLORE
I’ve been super lucky to have travelled to some incredible places in my lifetime, but there’s always more to explore! I’m currently planning breaks to the Cotswolds, Paris, Marrakesh, Croatia, Greece, Crete, Italy and NYC.. and I’m sure there will be more adding to the list soon. There’s something so inspiring and rewarding about travelling to new places, exploring cultures, food and lifestyles. Who’s coming with me?
3. INSPIRE & BE INSPIRED
I’m eternally amazed by the incredible community of bloggers and vendors that I work with on a daily basis, they inspire me no end and push me to work harder, and dream bigger! This year I have plans to give something back to this amazing sisterhood of women, watch this space!
4. HAVE FUN
Life can get so serious sometimes, but if there’s anything 30+ years on the planet have taught me is that life really is too short. Buy the flowers, wear the sparkle, drink the champagne, dance on the tables, eat the chocolate, ride the rollercoaster… above all I plan to have a lot of FUN!!
5. KEEP LEARNING
Earlier this year I attended Gemma Milly’s calligraphy workshop, and I realised it was the first time I’d learnt something new since… well, I left school! Part of being a creative is striving to constantly learn new things, and I fully intend to embrace this over the next year starting by learning the art of silk painting with Kate Cullen in a few weeks time. Who knows if I’ll be any good (I wasn’t with the calligraphy, just so you know!) but even if I don’t come away with a new skill at least I’ll have ticked number 1, 3 & 4 off my list!
