REVIEW: THE WOOD NORTON HOTEL
Whenever the New Year makes it’s grand entrance, my thoughts immediately turn to planning in some adventures.
Whilst we already have a long-haul trip booked for March, this year we’ve decided it’s all about loading up the Mini and exploring the UK in a little more detail.
Last January we headed to Cornwall and absolutely loved our stay in the country. The crisp fresh air and breath taking views were utter bliss and you can read all about this jaunt here. But today, I thought I’d take you on another little tour of one of my location discoveries from 2015 – The Wood Norton.
Our journey into the stunning Worcestershire countryside was fairly straightforward from our home by the sea in Brighton, albeit a little bit blustery on this particular autumnal Saturday. This time around we had planned to leave our little pup at home and indulge in a super romantic trip for two!
Turning into the driveway of The Wood Norton, I could feel the excitement start to build as I caught sight of the grand county house and it’s stunning garden. I practically skipped out of the car leaving Mark to grab the bags and park the car. I was met with smiles and a very warm welcome by the reception team and we were immediately ushered to a swoon-worthy suite.
Imagine oak paneled walls, fleur-de-lys crests, luxurious swathes of fabric on every window, a bed that looked so soft I wanted to dive straight in and the most incredible sweeping views of the lawn. The room was comfortable and elegant, quite traditional but had everything you would need including a fabulous bathroom with roll top bath!
The next 24 hours were spent in a cozy bubble, exactly what I needed ahead of the busy festive season. We sipped cocktails and dined on a delicious 5-course menu including Pigeon, Scallops, Beef Fillet and a desert called Tastes of Chocolate that I could have happily eaten again, and again, and again.
Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily think of myself as a traditionalist, I did fall under the spell of this particular hotel. Also, if we hadn’t been feeling so utterly lazy in our luxury I would have loved to explore the surrounding area! It’s super close to Stratford so when I return I’ll be checking in for longer than one night so we can have the best of both worlds – adventure & indulgence!
