WHITEWASHED WALLS & INFINITY POOLS
Whether working or holidaying, the B.LOVED team are constantly on the lookout for beautiful venues, hotels and honeymoon spots to share with you lovely readers. So when Katie arrived at her gorgeous Greek villa in Santorini she immediately let me know this was one beautiful spot she’d love to share. Whether you’re in search of summer sun inspiration of looking for an idyllic Santorini honeymoon villa, you’ll want to read on…
Honeymoon Petra Villas is an idyllic place to begin a honeymoon bobbing around the Greek Islands. It doesn’t have the typical white washed walls like other accommodation on the island. The hotel is crafted from the black volcanic rock which makes the island so magical to look at. Each lump of rock, chipped away and put back over 20 years by the hands of owner Yiannis Renieris. The hotel disappears into the cliff side so it’s difficult to spot from ridgeway path from Fira to Imergovili, the blackness of it disappears into the darkness of the cliffside adding to the privacy and feeling of exclusivity you get when you’re kicking back on a secluded sun terrace or wallowing in the infinity pool.
The view is absolutely stunning from this point on the island, Oia in the north for breakfast and Thira bathed in the pink tones of a sunset at dusk. The food is superb, Yiannis can often be found drinking a coffee or mojito by the pool, he values peace and tranquility and loves to see his guests unwind and relax – this accommodation embodies his incredible spirit and vision, there’s nowhere quite like it. Yiannis is a keen sailor and this family run business also owns Santorini Sailing Centre where you can book day trips on a Catamaran – the most epic way to see the island.
A highlight of my short trip was seeing many a Bride perched in a precarious pose for wedding pictures, atop a church roof or high ledge, all supermodel like, gowns flowing in the wind with ‘that view’ in the background. It’s a popular destination for weddings and honeymoons and I can see the pull. Also… make sure you eat at La Maison, the contemporary dishes are off the flavour scale and the staff are incredibly warm and friendly.
I heart Santorini.
