Stunning India

We’re feeling so full of wanderlust and adventure today, inspired by Sarah Hannam’s recent trip to India. Sarah is a fine art photographer and the way she has captured moments of her trip, are just so beautiful – from the intricate architectural details, the colours and people. Visiting the Golden Triangle, Sarah explored Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi. Here she is to tell us more details;

What would you recommend to do when visiting the Golden Triangle of India?
A visit to the Taj Mahal is an absolute must – it doesn’t disappoint and it is breathtaking in its beauty.  Go early though, like 7am early or you’ll be overrun by tourists.  Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges is great too.

How easy is it to get around? Do you need a car?
It’s a big country and so to get around you are going to have some sort of transport arranged, whether it’s a car or on an arranged tour.  I’d not been to India before so I’m glad I went through a tour operator like Exodus as India is quite a culture shock!

What would be your top packing tips?
Pack some school painting sets or stationery to give to families in case you stop off and meet any locals on your travels.  Our bus stopped at a small farm holding run by two families and we gave them some stationery for the children, which was appreciated.

Anything else you think we need to know?
I really recommend more authentic travel companies like Exodus as it felt like we had a wonderful, real experience of India run by an approved local guide.

Would you visit again? Yes definitely!
