Today’s post is proof you don’t need to be getting married to push the boat out – you can (and we say, you should!) create a pretty party to mark any major celebration and life event!

This tie-dye birthday party was a joint celebration that saw friends and family come together at a big end of summer party in the grounds of their gorgeous home in the English countryside.  Knot & Pop created a party scene that was grounded within the gorgeous countryside setting. The look and feel was one of low-fi luxe, rather than out and out ostentation.

Everything needed to feel natural, organic and artisanal, instantly encouraging guests to feel at home and relaxed in the party atmosphere. With a chic festival feel, and plenty of tie-dye, the party showed the bohemian side to festivals, in all its indigo tie-dye glory and gorgeousness!

Harking back to the festival feel of Woodstock and the 70s, the chic bohemian styling beautifully lent itself to inky blue palettes and rich botanicals, that mixed fern and foliage in ever-green florals. It was all about Shibori tie-dye – the quintessential festival print – to create custom made fabric backdrops, signs, napkins and table cloths.

There were two marquees, one for informal dining and the other for dancing, with an outdoor picnic table area flanked in festoon lights that sat in between, creating a lovely hub that encourages guests to move freely, setting a very relaxed and fun atmosphere.

The marquees had tie-dye blue drapes forming the curtain fronts, with a gorgeous dark blue lining for the Dance tent, that mixed with a cluster of dip dye lanterns and ribbon tassels. The ceiling of two marquees also had foliage garlands, teamed with blue dyed ribbons, tied on to flutter in the summer breeze. The sense of bringing the outdoors in saw white wire vintage frame lampshades treated in foliage to form gorgeous organic lighting over picnic-benches

We created lovely lounge areas with day beds and lots of sumptuous blue cushions to keep guests comfy. Candles were dip dyed in blue wax to add those extra little design details, with lovely pebble votives, holding tealights for that added twinkle come sundown.

The fun factor was in mind at all times, with lots of games and goings-on. From the foliage wrapped wigwams, to the custom-made fruit shaped waterbombs hanging from the orchard, the space hopper races, the Nail Bar, the pool and lawn games. We adored producing this party for all of their friends and family to enjoy, and hope you enjoy trying out the Shibori tutorial, that will be posted soon, to bring a sense of the party to your home.
