TRAVEL INSPIRATION: VENICE
Venice is currently top of my list of places to re-visit – I fell in love with this magical city on a college art trip (many) years ago, and have been itching to get back ever since and experience the romance, beauty, light and art from a different perspective. Back then I spent the days sketching and photographing the banks of the Grand Canal; these days you’re more likely to find me sipping coffee overlooking the Rialto Bridge and coveting some of Italy’s finest leather goods.
On her epic tour of Europe, Maxeen couldn’t resist a Venice city break, so this week she’s sharing her thoughts on this magical destination.
Destination: Venice, Italy
Travel Time: 3 hours direct flight from London.
Venice has been on my list of places to see for as long as I can remember. I just finally found the time to actually book a trip!
WHERE TO STAY
I stayed in a self-catering apartment which I found on AirBnB
WHAT TO DO
I would definitely recommend doing a walking tour with one of the local guides. The guides are full of local knowledge and fun facts, as well as being a great source of advice on where to eat.
WHAT TO EAT
Italians are lovely, welcoming people. Their food is beautiful and one of my favourite things is to sit in a restaurant with live music. It’s the best way to spend a night.
HOW TO GET AROUND
Venice is a city perfect for walking, there are no cars! It’s honestly my favourite place to get lost. Grab a map and just walk through the winding alleys. However, taking a water taxi is hugely fun and is another wonderful way of seeing the city
WHAT TO PACK
If you take nothing else, take your camera! Venice is stunning. I promise you will be snapping away with every step you take.
WOULD YOU GO AGAIN?
Yes! Venice is so beautifully romantic. You cannot just go once!
