Bright + Fun Filled Trolls Themed Birthday Party

B.loved Edit member Lisa Baker of Just Bespoke knows how to throw a party! As a luxury wedding + event planner, Lisa created a brilliant, bright and fun filled children’s birthday party with a Trolls theme for her daughter captured by Claire Graham Photography! Here she is to tell you about all the details! “When my 3 year old daughter said that she wanted a Trolls party when she turned 4, I immediately began to think about ways in which I could do this in a stylish and fun way…without it looking tacky. Luckily for me, I get to work with some amazing suppliers as part of my job as Owner of Just Bespoke – so I already had a wish list of people to bring on board who I knew would be able to deliver on my slightly crazy brief!

Taking the core colours of pink, purple and turquoise, we decided to focus on this palette for everything from the invitations through to the party bags and tableware. The party took place in our home and so I needed to find a way to transform the downstairs area into a cool party venue.  Bubblegum Balloons were the solution and using balloons in the colour scheme, they created a wonderful rainbow arch over the doors to the playroom (where the entertainment would be happening), as well as providing balloon garlands all the way up the stairs.  They also supplied some fantastic clear balloons with intricate troll tassels which were placed outside the front door and as centrepieces on the dining tables.

For the dining tables, we decided to use plain white children’s tables and chairs and decorated these with a plethora of troll-inspired tableware.  We love working with Intricate Creations and had loads of fun brainstorming how the placemats would work for the party.  In the end we opted for a troll facial silhouette which had bright fur in the colour scheme attached to it to work as the hair.  These were free-standing on the tables and made such an impact.  We then purchased tableware (plates, cups and napkins) from A Pretty Little Party Shop to complement the overall colour scheme.  The chairs each had a cute little troll garland on the back to add a pop of colour.

We set up a simple yet effective ‘Hug Me’ photobooth, which included some disco props which the children loved.  All of the paper goods throughout the party were created by our lovely friend Jen of Jennifer’s Paper.  She created the cutest Troll invites and then used the colour scheme from these for all of the food labels and signage.

Our cake was provided by Kakes Bakery and was a real show stopper – whilst only 6” in diameter, it was really tall and inside had a secret rainbow surprise which worked so well with our amazing meringues ‘Troll Hair’ from the fab Meringue Girls. We also had some cute Troll-shaped drinks stirrers and fruit skewers and I even attempted Troll ice cubes (trolls frozen into ice) which looked really effective.

The food was kept very simple with sandwiches and party food from Waitrose and my husband and I had great fun coming up with Troll-inspired names for the food and drinks, as well as the rest if the party signage. As guests left they were given a bespoke Troll party bag made by Truly Scrumptious Party bags, which featured a trio of glitter trolls on the front and some little gifts inside, including Troll Hair lollies from the Meringue Girls.

My daughter loved the party and we had great fun pulling it all together…who knows what the request will be next year!”
