LUXE CHANGE BAGS FROM JEM + BEA
On a fairly chilly Wednesday evening in January, I had the real pleasure of receiving an invite to
the launch of Jem + Bea’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection at DryBy London – a very fabulous new blow dry and nail art studio just north of Oxford Street.
They make THE most gorgeous baby changing bags. In fact, I have to say that calling a Jem + Bea’s bag a simple changing bag is really not doing it justice. These beauties would stand on their own against any luxury handbag – gorgeously soft leather, top quality hardware (the zippers – one of my pet peeves on handbags – glide like a knife through butter). But they have the added bonus of being designed specifically with mums (and dads!) in mind. Wide access through the top, roomy pockets inside perfectly sized for bottles, wipes and toys, and matching changing mats included.
So on this cold January night, after hustling my way through Oxford Circus, coming into DryBy was an absolute treat. It was cold and blustery outside, but about 7 seconds after stepping inside my coat had been swept away, I had a glass of champagne in my hand, and I was being ushered into the shampoo area to start my blow-dry treatment.
Ah, for a busy mum on her way home from work: what a treat! I browsed the blow-dry options and chose loose, voluminous curls (think Lauren Bacall, with maybe slightly darker under-eye circles!). With hair looking fabulous, I made my way downstairs to the nail art studio and the setting for this evening’s gorgeous display of jem + bea’s new SS 2016 collection.
After launching their debut collection in Autumn/Winter 2015, which was hugely successful, this luxe brand have followed it up with equally fabulous new designs and have filled a few niches which make me very happy!
So, on to the bags…
The one that instantly grabbed me was the Farah in Black (almost all of my handbags are black!). Now that my little girl is 15 months, I don’t have to lug around everything I used to. So this “grab-and-go” style is just perfect for me – enough room for some wipes, a spare nappy, mobile and purse. And, like all the Jem + Bea bags, it comes with its own mini changing mat.
As it can be worn across the body it stays nice and secure and keeps hands free for chasing after toddlers. And – how fab – the strap can be removed so it can be used as a clutch! And at £115, I think this is very reasonable for something that you will certainly use long after the need for lugging around nappies.
In addition to the Farah cross body bag, Jem + Bea have also expanded their nylon range with the Lola bag in red and black (at a super reasonable £120).
Amber is a brand new style for 2016, and is available in Grey White and Black for £230. In a bowling bag silhouette, this bag will easily go incognito as just a super stylish handbag. It just so happens to come with a gorgeous matching changing mat and a very practical and organised interior! I love the ultra luxurious gold hardware on these bags.
Just in case you missed Jem + Bea’s original 2015 collection, I just HAVE to show you Jemima Black. Isn’t she simply perfect?
