Sinclair’s Shower!

We’re so delighted to be able to share the beautiful baby shower of one of our wonderful team – Sinclair of Maids To Measure! Here she is to tell you about Pregnancy, her shower captured by Kate Nielen Photography and the arrival of baby Peggy!

“A baby shower was definitely something not on my radar, nor was having a baby!!! Running a crazy busy bridesmaid business, getting married, launching a new website and opening a new shop, was quite enough to be honest, but then a bump happened and this called for an excuse to get the girls together!

I would have been happy with tea and biscuits at home, but my sister India the creative director at Maids to Measure had different ideas. She never does anything by halves and always has the most elaborate plans. For once I was not involved and between her and my best friends they came up with the colourful celebration you see in the pictures!

They hired the private room at The Imperial on the Kings Rd, which is such a great blank canvas for any celebration. My one request was no games!!! so I was punished  by baby pictures of myself posted around the room. The room looked amazing, no pink or blue in site (we didn’t know what we were having) but instead brightly coloured pom pom garlands (from Indian Summer) together with multi coloured candles, confetti and the compulsory inflatable baby garland from Bubblegum Balloons.

Food was my fave, childhood treats of finger sandwiches, mini sausages, pizza bites etc topped off with handmade baby face cupcakes and rattle cookies by my talented twins  and of course an inedible nappy cake also made by the girls. My mum also made a cake with an ‘Oh Baby’ topper! Drinks were served in baby bottles and bags of jelly babies and popcorn were given out. I love how the girls made everything, I would have just ordered it all in!

The amount of gifts I received was embarrassing (but oh so useful as I had nothing!), also everyone clubbed together to get me the new Bugaboo Bee, way too generous but wow I love that piece of equipment now! I’m not sure what I was thinking i would do, I think that’s the problem I hadn’t had time to think! Other amazing seriously useful gifts I received, that now I couldn’t live without (and for anyone that wants some tips buying for a baby shower) Kokoso Baby Coconut oil (this stuff is amazing and I even use it on myself), a Match Stick Monkey (baby holds and chews on it day and night) and Otto Muslins (so nice I’m using one as a scarf!).

I found clothing particularly difficult through pregnancy, especially since I just wanted to wear joggers the whole time! I thought I ought to make an semi effort for the shower so treated myself to a crisp white maternity shirt from Isabella Oliver and my trusty maternity jeans (that I’m still wearing now).

Only a couple of weeks later baby Peggy arrived, luckily just giving me time to do the Bridal show at Harrogate and Brides the show! nearly 3 weeks early we were all taken by surprise but so glad she gave us enough time to have the shower. Huge thanks to Kate Nielen for the incredible pics, it really was a day to remember.”

As a little girl I used to love camping out in my back garden with my friends. We’d set
