#109: Beach Brights
As I’m busy spending my bank holiday weekend in Dubai, I thought it was only fair to share a bit of the sunshine with you today! I love beach weddings, and although the temptation is to stick to a classic blue, taupe and white palette I’m all for shaking things up a bit. So what about this fun & colourful beach moodboard? With a clashing colour palette, the key is to pick shades which tone – bright yellow, pink, coral and orange all belong to the same family and bring sunshine and warmth, while a splash of turquoise adds contrast. This look is super fun – bright, tropical blooms – think fuschia pink peonies, yellow ranunculus, vivid orange poppies, coral parrot tulips and rusty pincushion proteas softened with a hint of silvery-green foliage. I love how bleached fan coral has been added to this white topped table for a clean contemporary touch, but the bright blooms work just as well a top a driftwood bench. Lead your guests to your ceremony spot with bright & colourful balloons – they’re a cheap and effective way of making a big impact in a large space. The informal and relaxed vibe of a beach wedding lends itself to a picnic-style or buffet meal. Ditch the formal settings and decorate each place with a pretty napkin and plastic cutlery tied with a colourful name tag {download the DIY here}, and display your menu on a surfboard artistically stuck in the sand (how much fun is this!) Of course, for UK couples a beach wedding is likely to be a destination celebration – so don’f forget to thank your guests for travelling all that way with a personalised welcome bag, complete with sunglasses for some fun wedding photos!
