#113: from the earth
Happy Monday wedding lovers!! I hope you’ve all had a ridiculously lovely weekend whatever you’ve been up to!
This week’s inspiration board is inspired by the earth. With botanicals fast becoming a hot trend for 2013-2014 brides, the palette is picked straight from nature. The rich purple tones of beetroot plucked straight from the soil, juicy blackberry’s from countryside hedgerows that leave a stain on your fingers and lips as they are picked, and a sneaky one or two eaten just to check! The green tones of headily scented herbs, rosemary, sage and perfumed lavender. You might say this palette is distinctly autumnal but the sweetest juiciest root veg is abundant in spring and early summer making this the perfect choice a sophisticated, yet relaxed garden or barn wedding. Invites and on the day stationery, with a series of fruit and veg motifs, take on a distinctly vintage feel when hand drawn and printed onto unbleached card. This look is all about layers and texture, rough hessian and linen cover picnic-style benches of a touch of luxury, whilst table arrangements overflow with loose, rustic arrangements. Places set with coloured vintage crockery – the best kind! – elevates the table into something special, while a carefully placed radish, or even baby carrot at each place all add to the scheme. Serve local farm-fresh food, this blackberry, fennel and goats cheese pizza would make a delicious appetiser! The rich plum-coloured artichoke and calla lily pop against the fresh greens and yellows of this loose hand-tied bouquet work equally well with a streamlined lace dress or floaty boho number, paired with cowboy boots or wellies for another nod to the earth. Present herb plant favours in pots, with calligraphed name tags showing each guest to their table, a sweet token that your guests will remember you, and your love, with every day it grows.
