#135: A Scandinavian Christmas

The decorations are up and there’s a definite frost in the air – there’s no getting away from it Christmas is nearly here!  We might be covering all things seasonal in our Style Guide this month, but frankly there’s only one time of year I get to share Christmas inspiration with you so I’m going to make the most of it!  Last week we looked at the inspiration behind the Festive Issue, adding a contemporary twist to a classic red & green palette, so this week I’m stripping it back to create a Scandinavian-inspired Christmas mood board in striking red & white.  Grab a glass of glögg and enjoy!

To keep this look fresh and modern I’ve picked a pale white canvas which really lets the red pop, with a limited amount wood and kraft paper adding natural texture. I’m so in love with this wooden stag (reindeer?!) adornment sealing a simple set of stationery, it’s the perfect finishing touch.  Colour block your flowers – an all white bouquet with touches of green foliage just needs a chunky red striped ribbon adds that much needed flash of colour.  On the tables, striking red arrangements and glassware are broken up with acres of crisp white linen and lots of candles for a cosy glow. For a truly Scandinavian touch, Dala horses make a perfect motif, and patterned cookie decorations make the perfect favour!  Fashion-wise I just couldn’t resist including a headpiece from Danish designer Jannie Baltzer, the striking red lips and voluminous dress just complete the whole magical look perfectly!

And if you can’t get enough Christmas colour combo inspiration, check out the Twobirds Bridesmaids blog tomorrow where I’ll be sharing a festive green & gold mood board!

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

You’ll also find me working as an Editorial Stylist, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as contributing as a founding member of bridal inspiration hub Aisle Society, and running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive from our super pretty base in London. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
