5 Reasons to Plan Your Luxe Destination Wedding at Sandals South Coast, Jamaica

Earlier this year I was invited to experience the second Aisle Society Retreat with a luxurious stay at Sandals South Coast Resort, Jamaica – an opportunity I wasn’t going to miss! Not only did I get the chance to catch up with my Aisle Society colleagues and friends from all over the world, but the chance to relax and unwind in the sunshine for a few days courtesy of the amazing Sandals team.

Arriving on the island late at night, I was whisked off over the mountains to the resort in a private air-conditioned minibus to meet my Aisle Society colleagues who had arrived earlier in the day. After a much-needed night’s sleep in my super-comfy super-kingsize bed, I couldn’t wait to open the shutters and see where I had arrived! My room in the Italian Village, one of three European-styled ‘village’ complexes on the resort, overlooked the pool and sandy beach – which I couldn’t wait to explore!

From my experience the previous year, I knew that the Sandals team were going to make sure we were treated like royalty, just as they treat all the couples who stay here, and was excited to find out more about the wedding and honeymoon packages offered here in Jamaica. Whether you’ve always dreamed of a destination wedding, or it’s something you’ve started considering since becoming engaged here are our 5 top reasons for planning your destination wedding at Sandals South Coast, with images by Alexis June Weddings;

STUNNING SCENERY

The resort sits on a stunning 2-mile stretch of white sandy beach overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea – the only all beachfront resort on the island – and is set on a 500-acre nature reserve offering lush tropical views over the mountains. Whether you spend your days sitting on the beach, exploring the miles of white sand by foot or sailing in the clear blue water with your love, you will surely never tire of the paradise views.

During our trip the Sandals team made sure we got to enjoy the different views offered on the resort; from a cocktail brunch in the overwater bar (hello overwater hammocks, I could totally chill here all day!) to a whimsical woodland dinner set under palm trees twinkling with fairylights.

BRING YOUR GUESTS

With months, if not years of planning going into your wedding it’s over in a flash. Sandals adults-only resorts are the perfect choice for large celebrations and intimate weddings, where your wedding day becomes week-long celebration with much loved family and friends. With plenty of activities, including scuba diving and watersports, island tours with Island Routes,three pools, two swim-up bars, a fitness centre and spa your guests are sure to find something to keep them happy whether they’re after high-adrenaline action or relaxation.

The Sandals team are also on hand to organise beach-front dinners complete with roaring bonfires, s’mores stations and fire dancers, followed by cocktails in one of the many bars! Or for a more intimate gathering how about dinner at new restaurant Sushi on the Sand? Sleek, modern and serving the most amazing sake cocktails (seriously, you should go just for these!) this open-air restaurant just steps from the beach offers beautiful Asian flavours in a uniquely Caribbean setting.

GORGEOUSLY ON-TREND DÉCOR

If there’s one thing we’re cautious of when it comes to destination weddings is dated, overpriced and uninspiring décor packages. With Sandals Weddings there is no chance of that – they truly understand that when planning your wedding inspirational ideas and décor are a key part of your wedding. The weddings team are constantly on top of all the latest trends to ensure they are able to offer couples weddings of the same standard they could expect at home (with a unique island twist, of course!)

Alongside the ever-popular beach, garden and gazebo wedding locations, Sandals have introduced new locations for your ceremony, reception and even photo locations! From coastal vibes in the overwater chapel (yes, that’s a real thing and it’s serious #destinationweddinggoals!) to on-trend tassels under the beach front pergola. I was seriously torn between which option I loved more!

ALL-IN-ONE WEDDING & HONEYMOONS

After the vows are exchanged and your guests have taken a final dip in the pool, Sandals is the perfect place to continue your honeymoon. Whether you decide to go for all-out luxury in one of the brand-new Over the Water Bungalows, complete with Butler or opt for the Honeymooon beachfront suite with leading straight onto the beach you’ll find everything you could possibly need at arm’s reach. Warning; you may never leave!

If you do decide to venture beyond your private beachfront terrace, you might enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach or in the tropical gardens. Or perhaps you would prefer to be pampered with a couple’s spa treatment at the award-winning Red Lane spa, where you can choose from the ‘Scents of Love’ or ‘Deep Flowing Water’ massages and feel the post-wedding tensions melt away.

NO HIDDEN EXTRAS

One of the best things about Sandals resorts is that they’re all-inclusive – so you don’t need to worry about changing currency, carrying tips or picking the most expensive dinner option! Coffee-addicts like me will appreciate being able to walk the on-site crêperie each morning for a skinny cappuccino (with extra pancakes!), while honeymooning couples can enjoy complementary fizz from the in-room bar – there’s nothing mini about it! there’s a reason Sandals have been voted the World’s Best All-Inclusive Resorts for a staggering 21 years in a row, as well as Brides Best Honeymoons 2017!

And, we’re excited to reveal Sandal’s new Aisle to Isle concept, totally unpackaging their weddings to provide a completely personalised wedding experience. From unique décor to authentic events, your own knowledgeable and experienced ‘Wedding Entourage’ are on hand to help you plan it all from home and finalise details on arrival. The service, style and level of luxe offered by the committed teams is second-to-none, and makes planning your luxury destination wedding at Sandals an easy choice.
