A Romantic Tale on Lake Maggiore

Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy. Beautiful villas, such as Villa Tarlarini, and imposing fortresses and castles are dotted around the lake making it one of those magical places that can take your breath away with its beauty.

The Villa

Villa Tarlarini is an extraordinary lakeside villa boasting timeless elegance and glamour, perfect for a romantic villa wedding. It has beautiful Italian style gardens and terraces offering direct access to the lake and breathtaking views.

The villa’s architecture and stunning interiors were the inspiration for this styled shoot. In particular, the dining and living rooms’ classic 19th century furniture and intricate antique objects are full of history, character and beauty. These aspects of the villa ooze romance and elegance.

The Garden

The team wanted to make the most of these features by styling an al fresco dinner in the gardens on a warm summer evening for this micro-wedding. They created an idyllic framed table facing the lake reminiscent of an impressionist painting.

On the other side of the garden, they set up an outdoor lounge area with Parisian sofas and luxurious ottomans. This chill out zone was the perfect corner in which guests could enjoy a welcome cocktail or relax after dinner and take advantage of the outdoor bar.

The Colour Palette

Yellows, mustard and an antique shade of pink are present throughout. These primary villa-inspired tones were combined with green, dusty pink and a gold accent, reminiscent of a warm summer evening.

The Floral Design

Seasonal flowers were used to create a romantic boho look for this villa wedding. This included dahlia cafe au laits, zinnia, david austin edith rose, rudbeckia, phlox, veronica and eremurus. These stunning blooms were styled in delicate natural looking and soft cascading arrangements to blend with the villa setting. The bride was also adorned with a lavish flower crown with pops of mustard and burgundy which added a boho vibe to this romantic and ethereal look.

Key Tips

  • Get inspiration on the wedding style and colour palette from the surrounding area, venue and the season. If you can’t decide on a collection of colours, choose one colour and create an ombrè-inspired palette.
  • Work with people who understand your vision and who will create the perfect little details that make your event unique.
  • Always follow your gut, not trends and remember that a classic look will always stand the test of time.
