A very English Affair
Yesterday on b.loved England met Africa, but today we’re sticking firmly in these green and pleasant lands with an editorial shoot from wedding planner Caroline Gould and photographer Ross Dean. A super elegant and stylish take on a classic English country wedding, this shoot is bound to inspire and delight those of you planning your own classic wedding.
Suffolk is quickly becoming the countryside venue of choice for a city bride who is looking for a unique countryside wedding. There are a lot of marquee style venues in Suffolk and we wanted to show that a marquee wedding doesn’t have to be vintage or rustic with a more sophisticated take on a marquee wedding. We went for a modern look with a quintessentially English feel, using mint green, soft pale pink and gold as the main colours. These colours are on trend and also make an impact, they enhance the summer wedding palette and give enough colour while keeping the overall look elegant and classic. Kenton Hall Estate is a beautiful countryside venue in the county of Suffolk. It really is a hidden gem, with a fantastic tree lined driveway, a woodland area and glamping site.
We wanted a slightly alternative bridal look so went for a dress with lots of soft ruffle detail from Bury Bridal Rooms who very kindly gave us four dresses to choose from. As well as the ruffle dress for the day time part of the shoot, we also chose a more slinky sexy dress for the evening part of the shoot with beautiful detail and sparkle on the back. Who says you can only have one dress! We kept the make-up very natural for both sections of the shoot but changed the hair from an up do during the day to a more relaxed style for the evening.
Almost all of the props were from our homes or picked up at local auctions. Trophies, books, bowls, tennis racquets, my dad’s treasured crystal decanter and glass and a wooden box that was hand crafted by my granddad. This approach to styling is to show brides that you do not need to buy all of your props and details – use home décor to make an impact. Pom Pom Studio provided the tassel garlands which added a fun element to the shoot. Not satisfied with just a cake, Helen from Amelie’s Kitchen supplied an entire dessert table with mini cakes, meringues, macaroons as well as the ‘traditional’ cake adorned with sugar paste roses and dripping with gold!
