An English Wedding at Findon Place

The Story: Our resilient couple had to postpone their English wedding and pivot on their plans, drastically reducing the size of their reception and guest list (yes, thanks to COVID). Silverlining out of this a beautiful, intimate wedding combining classic, fine art styling with a modern twist.

The Location: Findon Place is a spectacular country house on England’s South Downs. This is one of the most beautiful properties in Sussex. A Grade II* listed Georgian mansion with 52 acres of gardens, pasture and woodland. The English countryside at its best.

The Look: Floaty fabrics and fabulous shoes. An elegant colour palette of ivory and blush with green and grey accents. Wild, unstructured florals. Our bride wore two spectacular wedding gowns and changed into a fitted dress with a vintage lace pattern overlay paired with ostrich feather Jimmy Choos and statement drop pearl earrings for the wedding breakfast.

The Vibe: Considered contemporary countryside. The incorporation of heirloom jewellery was a nod to absent family members, including the bride’s late grandfather’s cufflinks sewn inside her dress. Antique silver and mother of pearl were used throughout for a vintage vibe. Antique bowls and urns were filled with ivory and blush David Austin roses accompanied by white delphiniums, blush orchids, dried scabious, chocolate cosmos and twigs for rustic romance feels.

  • Statement crockery such as patterned plates can be used to create a showstopping tablescape with some serious wow factor. Use candlelight to create a beautiful reflection in crystal glassware.
  • Bring it all together by using consistent materials throughout.
  • The use of heirlooms adds an authentic and personal touch. Think quality over quantity.
