boudoir: where love resides {dominique}

Afternoon ladies!

I’ve been sharing more and more boudoir shoots on b.loved in the past few months, I love them and judging from your reaction, you do too! I always enjoy receiving boudoir shoot submissions that suit my style, and it’s all in the understated, elegant and romantic portrayal of femininity. This afternoon’s shoot comes from Claudia De Nobrega who captured this pretty pastel shoot of Dominique Roussouw.  Dominique is well known in South Africa as part of the talented team at Woo Themes, and also the passionate and caring figure behind African Tails, an animal rescue organisation caring for the less fortunate dogs in the townships and on the streets of Cape Town.  This quote, chosen by Claudia, sums up the essence of this style of boudoir perfectly ~

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.  The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides” Audrey Hepburn

Claudia tells us more ~

When Dominique emailed me and asked me to photograph her Beauty Shoot, I was beyond excited and I started to sum up what I wanted to portray…I was inspired to capture the celebration of what it is to be a woman, the beauty of hers that shines on the inside out and the celebration of her life.  I wanted to capture that light that shines through her and her beauty that radiates through her as a beautiful and elegant woman. Graceful. Beautiful. Elegant. Romantic. Loveable. Adorable. Gorgeous. I wanted to capture her heart, her love and her soul.

Dominique booked a room at the Albarosa Guesthouse. The room was elegant and filled with natural light that came in from a large sliding door.  A gorgeous golden vintage chair promised to be inviting for a vintage themed shoot as well as a french styled bed.  Tea and books are one of Dominique’s favourite things and so we filled the shoot to reflect who she was and I love the result created by the tea cup and collection of old vintage books that clearly portrayed her love for reading and drinking tea! Dominique is one of the most adorable and cutest woman I have ever met!  She brought milk with to our shoot just to ensure we could have some fun tea breaks!

Dominique describes the experience ~

Barry and I have been together for just over four years and I have always loved spoiling him, but he is the typical “man who has everything” and so is a nightmare to buy gifts for!  After some thought I decided to do something a little different and book a beauty shoot with the end product being a gift for him to enjoy on our 4 year anniversary.  The whole experience, from the first email I send to Claudia to the moment we said our goodbyes after the shoot, was FUN, FUN, FUN.  I was a little shy in the beginning but after the first giggle the nerves were gone and the rest of the day was spent laughing and prancing around feeling pretty gorgeous.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
