I am totally and utterly in love with this wedding.  Whether you’re newly engaged (yay!) or are entering the final months of wedding planning (also yay!) one of the questions every couple faces is just how traditional do you want your day to be? Non-traditional doesn’t have to mean a secret elopement – nor does it have to mean bonkers-crazy colourful and a bit out-there – it just means you don’t have to stick to the ‘rules’, whoever decided them anyway?  With so many things to consider when planning your big day – from the venue and dress to family and friends (not to mention family politics!) – there isn’t one easy solution for all, so we encourage you to find what works for you.  The gorgeous Lynne and Brent already have two gorgeous children, so wanted a relaxed and informal day to celebrate their new family.  Lynne created her own take on ‘non-traditional’, with designer outifts and a flawless sense of style.  Her Gucci dress is so ahead of fashion in this year’s hottest shade, Marsala, and her tropical yellow bouquet is the perfect colourful accent.  Perfectly captured by Ashlee from Taylor Barnes Photography (who also happens to be the groom’s sister) I’m sure you’ll find some gorgeous ideas to steal for your own day, and maybe create some traditions of your own?!

From their photographer Ashlee –

My brother Brent and his lovely wife Lynne have been together for many years, I’ve watched them bring up two amazing children and be such a great example of love and loyalty! So when Brent popped the question last year whilst himself and Lynne where on a mini break in Italy, the whole family where thrilled!!! Lynne to me was always destined to be the non-traditional bride (which I love) and I enjoyed hearing her wedding plans throughout the four or so months they planned the wedding. She wanted a relaxed atmosphere choosing to focus more on the celebration of two families joining together rather than getting caught up in lots of wedding details. She chose an amazing Gucci gown that suited her glamorous personality to a tea! I loved that even though she didn’t go down the traditional “white gown” route for her dress she still splurged on a designer outfit including amazing Louboutin’s and a cute matching clutch.

Brent and Lynne decided to wed in the heart of their home town in Bristol.  Even though they did not want a church ceremony they wanted something personal and with character which they found hotels and registry offices lacked in, so the city hall was a perfect option.  With just 50 guests the ceremony was kept short but personal with only close family and friends watching. After the ceremony we took a scenic walk through the streets of Bristol to a well known restaurant and cocktail bar who offered the most impeccable service and suited perfectly to their relaxed yet chic style.

After a delightful lunch the Jamaican rum punched was served and the party began! They decided to hire a super cool DJ from one of the local clubs in Bristol rather than opting for a cheesy wedding DJ so we danced into the wee hours of the morning with plenty of cocktails to keep us going.

I absolutely loved this wedding not only as Brent is my brother and Lynne has always been there as a sister to me but because it was a perfect reflection of them! I loved that they rebelled against the traditions so many feel they have to stick to… they invested in what was important to them and they where both ecstatic with the results!

I wish every wedding was as effortlessly stylish as this one!
