A NEW LEVEL OF LUXE: THE CORINTHIA COLLECTION
Did you know we have our very own team working behind the scenes? The B.LOVED Contributor’s Network is made up of some of the industry’s very best, and not only do they share their latest ideas and inspirations with you right here, they also make sure they’ve got their fingers on the pulse of the latest goings on in the wedding world. Well, there is only one of me! A few weeks ago, the lovely Katie & Jac from Eagle Eyed Bride headed to a special event at the Corinthia Hotel. I’ll leave Katie to explain more….
At just 4 years old the Corinthia Hotel as been many things. It was originally the Metropole Hotel built in 1883 catering for the upper echelons of society. Requestioned by the War Dept. during WWI the building was used by the MoD during WWII until 2004. Room 800 is rumoured to be where UFO reports were collated!
Much has changed since then. We spent a delightful morning at a Wedding Breakfast designed to showcase the Ballroom laid out as it might be for a stunning wedding reception. The room itself is incredibly opulent but has a classic and contemporary feel with grey panelled walls, white beading and silver details. Two long tables laden with flowers in blush, lilac and ivory tones looked drop-dead gorgeous in the centre of the room, Eagle Eyed Bride’s signature hummingbird place cards were perched on the rim of every glass, a pianist played in the background and there was a yummy bucks fizz for our 10am arrival (sozzle!), it was heaven!
The team at the Corinthia Hotel are warm, friendly and incredibly experienced, tending to your every need. Hannah Routledge the Wedding Coordinator organised the breakfast for industry professionals to really get a feel for the place and put it on the map as the top class London wedding venue that it is.
Any stylish, cosmopolitan bride would love this place. There’s the option to have a more intimate gathering in The Courtroom which opens up onto a private courtyard if the Ballroom is too grand for you. The luxury hotel’s in-house florist By Appointment Only Design have a flower shop on-site just opposite the world’s only mini-Harrods-store-in-a-luxury-hotel, making it easy for guests to get a few last minute gifts!
The food was a fantastic looking plate of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on brioche that tasted just as perfect as it looked. The salmon was trimmed neatly around the edge of the plate and even the lemon was in a pretty little muslin parcel. These talented michelin star chefs turn out michelin star style food for large numbers of guests which takes serious planning and is not something usually seen as a large scale catering option for a wedding. The food is sensational, we have it on good authority that Jonny Depp frequents The Massimo Private Dining Room complete with chef for more intimate gatherings whenever he’s in town!
After a decadent breakfast we were given a detailed tour of the hotel. The interior designed by David Collins oozes class and style. The piece de resistance was a peek at one of the penthouse suites which if available is often offered to the Bride and Groom as an upgrade from a their ‘standard’ (still fabulous!) Bridal Suite! The duplex suite was all mink, and plush grey tones, lots of glass and smokey mirrors, an illuminated white marble spiral staircase. Within the plasterwork climbing roses adorned the walls up to the enormous Hamilton Penthouse Suite with doors opening up onto a decked terrace with marble seating area overlooking the river, oh and a hot-tub! Wahh! Many Brides have stunning wedding photography with ‘that view’ in the background. We are told that Jennifer Aniston, Rita Ora, Oprah opt for this room in particular every time they stay in our beautiful city.
Eagle Eyed Bride’s Corinthia stationery collection is inspired by the iconic ‘Full Moon’ glass chandelier by the French designer Chafik Gasmi, the striking centrepiece consists of hundreds of droplets suspended in a huge sphere formation, something of a trademark for the hotel. We interpreted this design as a shower of silver, lilac and gold foils across each piece, view the collection here.
