DELFT BLUES
I’m super excited to share this beautiful shoot that I created at the European Wedding Congress in Holland earlier this year! Organised by Dutch fine art photographer Anouschka Rokebrand, the EWC is an annual event designed to bring together and inspire wedding professionals from all over Europe. As part of the Congress I hosted my own styling workshop – I’ll be sharing some of the behind the scenes action this afternoon along with the work of some of my very talented students – but this morning I get to share some of my own styling, photographed beautifully by Anouschka.
The entire shoot was inspired by my own memories of living in Holland as a child – fresh flowers, a relaxed style and of course pretty Delftware! I used a palette of dusky blues, powdery pinks and pale greys accented with hints of brass to add a luxe touch to an otherwise fresh and elegant look which contrasted beautifully with the grand setting of Kasteel de Hooge Vuursche, where the shoot was held.
I found the perfect spot for our table setting on one of the balcony’s overlooking the formal gardens, where I used antique wooden chairs provided by Hartje Blaricum, the palest blue table linen alongside patterned china and cut glassware, with tall brass candlesticks from Hélène Millot Furnishings (who hires out beautiful props in both the UK and Netherlands). DON Florito created the most incredible floral arrangements using fresh Spring blooms including ranunuculus, anemones, muscari and trailing jasmine to create a sweet scented centrepiece and bouquets. Leintjes Exclusief designed the prettiest set of stationery, using a powder blue calligraphy font and floral patterns to pick up the detail from the crockery, which was then echoed in the lace details of the cakes and sweets from Sugarlips Cakes.
Stunning couple Dorien and Steffen were dressed in equally elegant style; Steffan in smart navy suit and bowtie for a semi-formal look, and Dorien in two gorgeous dresses designed by and exclusive to Unielle Couture in Amsterdam. I can’t pick a favourite between the elaborate, glistening blue embellisment of ‘Tiffany’ or the voluminous lace and tulle ‘Grace’ (totally obsessing over the pockets!). Her bridal look was completed with beautiful makeup and a loose bun created by Marianne from The Beautiful Bride Company, accessorised by SIBO Designs with jewellery by DRKS. I’m SO in love with that veil!
